Eagle Ford Overview

ConocoPhillips’ acreage is located in the sweet spot of the Eagle Ford tight oil trend, located in the Western Gulf Basin of South Texas. The company was one of the first to enter the play in 2009, and by year-end 2020 held approximately 200,000 net leasehold and mineral acres, primarily in DeWitt, Karnes, and Live Oak counties. Since field inception, ConocoPhillips has produced more than 500 million barrels of oil equivalent from the field and continues to build the Eagle Ford into a legacy asset with production expected for years to come. In 2020, net production from the Eagle Ford averaged 186 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day, with about 80 percent of the production coming from liquids.

Description

If you are selected as the Development Reservoir Engineer, you will be building, planning and executing the Eagle Ford development program. The Eagle Ford asset is an active development program in Lower 48 with six five drilling rigs currently in the area, with plans to increase to six this year. Recently production was over 200M net BOEPD with plans to continue growing over the next several years. This horizontal well program will develop over 200,000 acres in South Texas. The successful candidate will work with all functions of the organization in a legacy asset with high activity and technical advancements.

Your Responsibilities May Include

  • Lead development efforts in assigned areas through efforts within a multi-discipline team that includes Land, Drilling, Completions, Regulatory, Surface Land, Operations Geology, and Facilities, gaining approval and implementing development plans including staking, well planning, execution and post well evaluations in assigned areas
  • Responsible for maintaining and optimizing long term plan of development to maximize value for assigned areas
  • Provide production forecasts, EUR, economics, AFE justifications for new wells in assigned areas
  • Assist in maintaining a drilling inventory that is prioritized and vetted through multi-discipline team to focus on value, production, land obligations and infrastructure capability
  • Lead major multi-disciplinary projects to influence key Eagle Ford decisions
  • Develop/foster new innovative ideas and work program to influence Eagle Ford business strategy
  • Consistently seek ways to improve efficiency and tackle difficult problems by taking appropriate technical and financial risks in execution and planning phases of Eagle Ford rig program
  • Mentor and lead others to commit to active learning and self-development
  • Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing within Eagle Ford Development organization as well as through the URE to collaborate with other business units
  • Seek and share best practices with Eagle Ford development, Drilling & Completions, Operations, Projects teams as well as other Lower 48 BUs and Global Unconventional teams
  • Evaluate OBO opportunities and ballots, built OBO budget forecasts including capital and production
  • Evaluate Business Development opportunities for JVs, acquisitions, minerals, farmouts, etc.

Basic/Required

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or foreign equivalent
  • 3+ years of experience in reservoir engineering in the oil & gas industry
  • Basic level of knowledge of production analysis
  • Basic level of knowledge of economic analysis

Preferred

  • 1+ years of experience in unconventional resource plays
  • Ability to keep pace with an active drilling program and react to the dynamics as information changes our development strategy
  • Understand and applying decision and risk analysis techniques to the project work
  • Initiative to work without constant supervision
  • Delivers positive results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
  • Listens actively and invites new ideas for exchanged opinions, then influences and acts to drive positive performance and achieve results
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what’s right
