Responsibilities And Tasks

You will work regularly with Micron’s Business Units to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements. You will be expected to suggest, promote, and leverage published standards to minimize environment complexity and ensure regulatory as well as license compliance. You will have the opportunity to travel to other Micron sites as well as technology conferences and trainings.

As part of your responsibilities you will be required to:

  • Provide day to day technology directions within IT Data Center Storage and Data Protection area
  • Maintain global collaboration with the other Micron IT operations teams, both internal and external to I&O
  • Operational support escalation
  • Incident management and problem management
  • Project execution
  • Maintain OLA and SLA agreements with other Micron Business Units
  • Innovation

Specific Responsibilities Include (but Are Not Limited To)

  • Define, design, engineer and implement storage and backup hardware and solutions.
  • Design and implementation/administration of IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM)
  • Design and implementation/administration Dell EMC Data protections solutions using Data Domain, primarily for databases using DDBOOST
  • Provide backup client installations & scheduling, backup policies setting, performance tuning, and troubleshooting
  • Use SAN, NAS & TSM Backup management tools to analyze performance and identify bottlenecks or slowdowns and take appropriate action to resolve
  • Support acquisition, installation, maintenance, and administration of large enterprise SAN, NAS & enterprise Backup environment.
  • Define, in conjunction with other support groups and service providers, functionality required to support business strategies.
  • Maintain technical and service domain subject matter expertise to provide input on future roadmap decisions.
  • Work with customers to gather requirements, and propose, engineer, and provision storage and backup solutions.
  • Research and partner with vendors and management to select products that best meet company needs.
  • Manage system setup and standardization of features and usage.
  • Create documentation, testing, training, and post-deployment assessments.
  • Adhere to the change management process for any planned maintenance, or when potential issues are identified.
  • Provide training for new team members.
  • Coordinate vendor-specific support and problem resolution.
  • Provide 24×7 On-Call technical support and expertise for customer issues and service provider escalation.
  • Establish and implement policies, procedures, and standards, and ensure conformance.
  • Evaluate and test new storage and backup solutions for compatibility with Micron’s IT environment.
  • Define and adhere to established service and operational level agreements.
  • Propose and implement storage and backup system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of Micron’s IT environment.
  • Identify service improvement opportunities.
  • Plan and implement strategies for minimizing service outages, and for reducing the impact of such outages on business operations (i.e., availability, contingency, and disaster planning).
  • Adhere to Micron’s security policies for all managed services.
  • Communicate and collaborate with peer groups (System admins, architects, security team, network team, etc.).
  • Work with vendors and team members to troubleshoot issues related to the operations (Problem management)
  • Ensure all changes to systems are recorded and properly executed with approval (Change Management)
  • Review the performance of systems and plan for technological refresh and cater for future expansion (Capacity Management)
  • Participate in Business Continuity Planning and DR strategy including documenting of DR procedures, and executing DR drills
  • Maintain and review the DR documents on a regular basis.
