Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field (e.g., Cyber Security, Information Technology), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in enterprise or platform security engineering.
  • Experience in one or more coding languages (e.g., Java, C, Python, Go, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-native software and orchestration stacks, such as server-less architectures, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Experience in analyzing systems and identifying security problems, threat modeling, vulnerability management, and remediation.
  • Knowledge of techniques, standards, and state-of-the-art capabilities for authentication, authorization, and use of cryptographic systems.

About the job

Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google’s users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

As a Security Engineer, you will work to ensure the security of Waze’s infrastructure, through activities such as vulnerability management, cloud configuration management, design reviews, and gap analysis. You’ll also be responsible for defining and advocating for Cloud security best practices, including policy development and enforcement.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $148,000-$230,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and direct support for remediation of identified risks or vulnerabilities.
  • Assess security gaps and risks; create, review, and contribute to assessment and remediation documentation.
  • Engage with Engineering teams across Waze and Google to provide security best practice guidance and training.
  • Assess, define, and document security-related designs and product requirements.
  • Provide on-call Incident Response to security incidents.
