Job Description Summary

The Senior Compliance Analyst is responsible for performing a variety of activities to validate and document Vistra’s compliance with all applicable wholesale energy trading laws, rules and regulations. This position will interact with personnel associated with Vistra’s trading and scheduling activities, plant operations, and information technology.

This position will also support Vistra’s strategic development and strategic analytics efforts. This position will also interact with regulators and market monitors. This role will support the centralized compliance activities including Market Conduct Policy and Compliance Leadership Team compliance.

  • Provide guidance and support the development of processes, procedures and measurement activities to meet all aspects of internal and external wholesale regulatory obligations
  • Lead periodic activities required to maintain and evidence compliance with internal and external regulatory obligations, including the identification of potential compliance variances
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable laws, rules and regulations as well as compliance best practices
  • Lead the preparation, coordination and submission of materials and responses to regulatory reporting requirements, internal and external audits, and inquiries
  • Learn and use a wide range of other software applications to gather and maintain information regarding operational activities
  • Improve existing processes to reduce regulatory risk and improve business experience
  • Participate in the creation and facilitation of regulatory training curriculum, including content development

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

  • Experience gained through college degree programs and or certifications
  • 3-6 years experience required
  • Compliance, Regulatory, Risk Management or Engineering experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and judgment
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable laws, rules and regulations as well as compliance best practices
  • Exercise critical thinking and problem solving to continually examine aspects of operations to improve and standardize processes across relevant organizations and teams
  • Obtain and maintain evidence supporting compliance activities associated with internal and external regulatory obligations
  • Work with operations personnel and management to identify and notify of compliance variances as appropriate
