An Application Security Engineer uses expertise in application security to collaborate with both development and operations teams to ensure that quality services are being released following security best practices. The Information Security Engineering team at O’Reilly Auto Parts is responsible for providing technical guidance to the business to ensure solutions are implemented and maintained in a manner that promotes security best practices.
What You’ll Do:
- Work closely with product and engineering teams to ensure security best practices are being applied throughout the entire life of an application.
- Define and implement new ways of reporting vulnerabilities found during the development lifecycle to increase the efficacy of the Application Security program.
- Act in an advisory role during project and sprint planning exercises to help ensure security concerns are identified and tracked as early as possible.
- Drive integration and adoption of process and technology into existing software development lifecycles (SDLCs).
- Contribute to the security tooling and automation projects to ensure a great development workflow that enables security best practices to be adopted.
Skills and Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, or Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in working in an Information Security capacity.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience working in a role automating and implementing application security tools and processes.
- Exceptional problem solving, communication, and customer service skills.
- Highly self-motivated and directed (self-starter).
Desired:
- In-depth automation experience, specifically integrating data sets between security tools.
- Experience working with SAST/DAST/RASP and other vulnerability management tools.
- CI/CD and container-based deployment experience, ideally related to implementing strong security controls within those contexts.
