IT/Information Security Architect
Location: Morristown, NJ (At least 2 days/week) – Hybrid role

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a member of the Cybersecurity and Technology Services team, you will design and deliver IT and Information Security Solutions within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and across the application footprint of Covanta’s information systems.
This is not an operational role, primary responsibilities are focused on security strategy, architecture and standards of IT & Information Security solutions while providing oversight of the Managed Security Services Provider for operational services. There are two other team members focused on different elements of the security stack – OT Security and overall Governance, Risk and Compliance activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assess current use of Microsoft 365 security capabilities and provide solutions towards enabling new security functionality/optimization, process improvements and automation.

Stay current with and champion the latest changes in the IT and Information Security environment to continuously enhance user experience and protect Covanta’s information assets.

Align IT and Information Security governance processes to the organization policies, technology roadmap and the business strategy.

Analyze business need and design/develop solutions to provide business opportunities leveraging Microsoft 365 security capabilities.

Elicit, document, and partner with compliance, security, technical teams to gather and translate requirements into functional and system requirements, create related SDLC documents and collaborate on testing, implementation, and project delivery.

Research new IT and Information Security technologies and assess impacts to existing controls.

Consult on IT and Information Security capabilities, solutions, and features to business teams – promote user adoption, ownership of applications, content, and sites with stakeholders.

Assist developing standards, governance principles, usage guidelines and adoption methodologies for collaboration tools

Develop training and educational documentation related to IT and Information Security services.

Proactively monitor health, usage, and overall audit compliance around access management.

Assist with audits of IT and Information Security services and platforms.

Partner with current Managed Service Provider(s) to deliver L0-L2 support for all Security Operations.

Analyze and build/manage governance reporting to be shared with leadership to demonstrate the cybersecurity posture of the organization.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

3+ years of experience in a rigorous business environment, in a security function.

In depth understanding of the security capabilities of Microsoft 365.

Demonstrated experience in solution design, build, deployment, management, adoption, and support of IT and Information Security services.

Demonstrated experience engaging business teams towards adoption of compliance policies and processes.

Experience with IT Service Management is preferred.

Excellent communication, diplomacy, writing and interpersonal skills

Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.

Able to manage multiple activities simultaneously, work independently with minimal direction

Strong personal organization and work management skills; planning, prioritization, execution focus.

Self-starter.

Ideal candidate will have a BS or related degree/certification in information management or related studies/work experiences. Candidates without this level of education will be considered based on a combination of education, certifications and relevant experience.
REMOTE WORK OPPORTUNITY:

In office presence is requested for team building and project work as necessary. Ideally, request 2 days / week in the Morristown, NJ Headquarters location to coincide with broader team schedule.
