Network & Security Engineer, Network and Security Services

Remote opportunity

Provide highly available telecommunications, network and security services for the global IDEX network. Educate, promote and enforce corporate security policies throughout the enterprise. Support business units with VoIP, network and security services; manage third-party providers as needed. Maintain expertise in telecom, network and security service platforms including, but not limited to Cisco routers, switches and firewalls, Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Cisco Meraki and Sentinel One security services, cloud technologies and associated products.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and enforce IDEX WAN access and security policies
  • Monitor IDEX WAN and proactively work with IDEX providers to permanently resolve issues
  • Monitor network bandwidth utilization and investigate root cause of excessive utilization
  • Develop and deploy best practices in Network and Security technologies
  • Identify and act upon security event investigations
  • Assist with policy, process and standards development
  • Assist with network integration activities in support of new acquisitions and facility relocation
  • Manage and maintain corporate fax, Internet access, remote access solutions; corporate firewall policies; corporate anti-virus solution deployment, incident detection and remediation
  • Maintain expertise in IDEX KII service offerings and promotes utilization of KII services; liaison and escalation point for business units to KII account management team
  • Establish trusted partnerships with peers and all colleagues throughout the enterprise
  • Assist in tracking and publishing network service level metrics
  • Align implementation tasks / actions with the Corporate IT Project Management Methodology
  • Encourage open and effective two-way communication

Required Skills:

  • Specific technical skills in some or all of the following required:
  • Expert level of skills in managing and troubleshooting Palo Alto and Meraki systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco systems including routers, switches and firewalls
  • Strong understanding of Vulnerability Management and remediation practices
  • Strong understanding of Layer 4 and Layer 7 firewall filtering
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Active Directory Services
  • Experience working with Azure or AWS cloud implementations and associated security controls and best practices
  • High level of understanding of networks, routing and network security
  • Intermediate knowledge of TCP/IP address sub-netting, routing and IP services; understanding of OSI network model
  • Ability to setup, operate and read a network level packet capture (i.e. Wireshark output)
  • Extensive knowledge of anti-virus/malware detection and remediation and forensic analysis
  • Solid understanding of telecom local access technologies (PRI, T-1, analog, wireless), SIP trunking
  • Experience with third party network providers
  • Willingness to self-direct and growth skills in support of business needs
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

Education:

BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field or 5+ years in related experience

Certifications in one or more of the following are preferred: Cisco, CISSP, Palo Alto, Juniper, Aruba

Prior Work Experience:

  • 5 years of related work experience in WAN technical operations or network security related position
  • 5 years in large ($1B or greater) corporate environments preferred
  • 5 years of experience working with cross-functional teams and heavily matrixed organizations

The estimated compensation for this position is $100,000-$115,000, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
