Job Responsibilities

As a Cyber Security Engineer on our Viasat Security Engineering team, you’ll have the flexibility to work among different project teams dedicated to: web & mobile application engineering, data analytics & cloud application engineering, distributed enterprise software applications, system infrastructure development; scripting, automation, data visualization & dash boarding, and cybersecurity software & systems engineering.

You’ll have an opportunity to work closely with Product Management to implement features for a web-based application and contribute to a security first development mindset by helping build tools that make implementing security into a product an easier, streamlined process. You’ll also have the chance to work with modern technologies as well as a variety of tasks, spanning front end, back end, CI/CD, etc. – a full DevOps experience!

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Exposure or desire to work with any of the following: Python, Java, JavaScript, Hadoop, MapReduce, SQL, Postgres, and C/C++
• Ability to pick up new software, frameworks and APIs
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Excellent software design, problem solving, and debugging skills
• Experience with or desire to learn Linux

Preferences

• Experience with Python and JavaScript
• Knowledge of TCP/IP network fundamentals
• Coursework in Object Oriented Programming, Design Patterns, Algorithms, User Interface/User Experience Design, Responsive Design, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and Networking
• Knowledge or experience with deployment tools like Amazon Web Services, Docker, Kubernetes, Git, Heroku, Git, Artifactory, Jenkins, Puppet, CHEF, CF Engine, Ansible, and SaltStack
• Knowledge or experience with security tools like Tenable/Nessus/Qualys, Kali, Coverity/Fortify, Twistlock, AppSpider/Netsparker/Burp, Wireshark, Metasploit, and Nmap
• Knowledge or experience with cloud platforms like Amazon, Openstack, Microsoft’s Azure, Google Cloud, and Salesforce
• Knowledge or experience with databases like MySQL, Amazon DynamoDB, Redis, Amazon Timestream, MongoDB, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, HBase, MariaDB, Hive, and Impala
• Knowledge or experience with front end development frameworks like React, Vue, Ionic, Bootstrap, Semantic UI, Foundation, Angular, and Polymer
