Hughes Network Systems, an EchoStar company, has an exciting opportunity for a Cloud Solution Architect who will expand Hughes’ Cloud Solutions and offerings. This position will be located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD.

Responsibilities:

• Assume a leadership position as a subject matter expert (SME) on Cloud services, Cloud Connectivity and SDWAN.
• Provide architectural design services of state-of-art SDWAN deployments
• Provide frameworks for Cloud and Datacenter standards, controls and governance
• Ensure that all security and compliance requirements are fully met.
• Perform hands-on tests to validate customer proof-of-concept setups, network designs, and network deployments using new products and feature.
• Drive Proof of Concept exercises for Cloud Solutions in customer labs to validate solutions
• Author whitepapers, knowledge base articles, and other customer/partner facing content.

Basic Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in networking, information technology, computer engineering or related technical field
• 5+ years’ experience in a Service Provider lead role
• 5+ years of experience in technology related areas of Cloud (Public, Private & Hybrid) and Cloud Migration & Modernization including both infrastructure and applications
• Travel: 20%

Preferred Qualifications:

• Extensive knowledge of next-generation application & cloud platforms including but not limited to: Cloud Native, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Oracle Cloud is preferential.
• Any Cloud providers certifications (examples Google Professional Cloud Architect, AWS Certified Solutions, CCNP Cloud, MCSE: Cloud or VMware VCP7)
• Designing and deploying applications in various cloud providers
• Hands on experience in deploying applications in cloud providers
• Experience working with large cross-functional team to coordinate many stakeholders
• Excellent interpersonal skills with tact and diplomacy in communication
• Data Science or Data Analytics knowledge a plus
• Knowledge on best practices architectures for SaaS applications.
• Hands-on experience in public and private cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, VMware.
• Operational knowledge of SDWAN technologies from providers like Cisco-Meraki, Fortinet, Vmware, Versa etc.
• Experience in planning and designing or operating service provider or large enterprise WAN/LAN networks.
• In-depth understanding of TCP/IP protocol stack and operation.
• Knowledge on WAN technologies and protocols like MPLS, MPLS based VPNs, BGP, OSPF, QoS, NAT, Multicast.
• Knowledge in architecting and/or managing large-scale, high performing and resilient Enterprise networking solutions.
• Good understanding of network connectivity in a multi-cloud environment (virtual network, gateways, public/private/elastic ips.)
• Shell scripting, python scripting knowledge.

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
