Primary purpose:

The Senior Information Governance Analyst is a seasoned professional role integral to the enterprise-wide Information Governance program. This position will help build and develop an effective program that achieves business needs and objectives, sets policies, meets requirements regarding information governance standards in classification, confidentiality, privacy, security, retention and disposition, and contributes to the core values and objectives of the company.

This position will work with various leadership teams, assess current company-wide information governance practices, analyze processes associated with regulatory obligations, industry benchmarks, and organizational requirements, and contribute to the design, development and deployment of technology solutions.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Information Governance policies and standards in a collaborative environment and promote compliance
  • Develop strategies and procedures to ensure the classification, confidentiality, privacy, security, retention and defensible disposition of records and information
  • Develop and participate in development of best practice tools based on business needs
  • Develop and provide metrics on the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to management
  • Design business processes and workflows for the creation, classification, access, maintenance, compliance management and destruction of electronic information; including the definition of data rules and relationships
  • Design workflow and process strategies to improve business performance and oversee the implementation of revised processes and workflows
  • Assess KM’s information governance program strategy and practices
  • Leverage intermediate data management knowledge in support of implementing information management practices
  • Identify and manage existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities, ensuring that risks are measured, monitored and controlled
  • Serve as a liaison between business and functional areas and IT to ensure that information governance requirements are clearly defined, communicated, and well understood
  • Support archiving and purging activities of data in compliance with legal requirements/retention schedule in partnership with IT
  • Maintain Information Asset Inventories and ensure data and assets are classified appropriately
  • Participate in and lead discussions with cross-functional teams, acting as a consultant and technical specialist to the businesses regarding processes and controls
  • Demonstrate advanced communication skills with the ability to deliver presentations to all levels of management
  • Monitor, research and evaluate technological advances in the industry to identify appropriate alternatives for enhancing current department operations

Education:

Four year college degree, Business, Information Technology, Information Management discipline preferred, or a related technical field

Experience/specific knowledge:

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products, SQL databases, SharePoint, and MS365
  • Experience with information security and privacy
  • Knowledge of and experience with, federal (US, Canada, Mexico) and state/provincial privacy records management, and information-security-related laws, regulations, self-regulatory standards, and industry best practices
  • Preferred experience seven to ten years of experience in similar job
  • Experience in creating and implementing processes that result in improved business performance
  • Knowledge and experience working with structured, semi-structured, unstructured data, and data maps
  • Knowledge of records management software packages

Certifications, licenses, registrations:

  • None required.
  • Industry certification such as CRM/CRA, IGP, PMP, and privacy-related certifications a plus

Working conditions

  • Based in Houston Headquarters with a Hybrid-Remote Pilot Program available along with a 9/80 Work Schedule.
  • Job Level commensurate with experience & skillsets

Above the minimum required; not required but advantageous in this position

Experience in developing an Information Governance Program

  • Advanced proficiency level in FileNet or other records repository systems
  • Project management certification and/or training
  • Knowledge of data protection law and practices (e.g. GDPR, California Consumer Privacy)
  • Awareness of key industry standards and best practices such as ARMA Standards
