About the role:
Boston Scientific is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer II within the Cybersecurity Architecture and Engineering group under the CISO organization. The primary responsibility in the role is to enable security-by-design approaches with planning, development, implementation, and operational support of solutions and services within BSC’s IT maintained infrastructure and public cloud infrastructures. Develops solutions to complex technical problems to provide a competitive advantage for BSC technologies across multiple functions within the IT organization.
The Cybersecurity Engineers accomplish these responsibilities through a combination of practicing open contribution, collaboration, and integrating with Cybersecurity Champions and business application owners/stakeholders
The candidate must have a combination of strong communication and technical skills in order to implement and support the functional and technical aspects of the cybersecurity plan and work collaboratively with a team of internal staff and consultants to execute its components. This role is part of the A&E team that works alongside a team of engineers and architects, supporting various security activities, such as application security, data security, network security, digital security, cloud security, identity and access management, among other areas.
Your responsibilities include:
- Drives solution and services improvements throughout the organization
- Designs and plans infrastructure cybersecurity systems improvements and provides detail specifications and schematics for infrastructure cybersecurity architecture
- Installs and upgrades security appliance hardware and software by following systems management procedures to accommodate growth
- Monitors systems by using management tools and industry best practices to ensure achievement of service levels including availability, reliability, and capacity utilization
- Analyzes system problems by identifying root-cause, evaluating costs and benefits of using alternate procedures, and initiates solutions to eliminate or reduce problems and improve services
- Defines, promotes, and supports the principles and standards of the enterprise architecture to formulate cybersecurity services
- Coordinates and leads projects by following project management procedures covering project scheduling, resourcing, training, communications, and change control
- Examines current industry trends and developing secure, cost-effective implementation plans, strategies, and schedules to improve services or introducing new capabilities
- Research new technologies by reviewing product information, managing product demonstrations, service and cost benchmarking, and proposing appropriate recommendations for implementation and keeps abreast of compliance requirements as it pertains to the company and individual business units
- Maintains technical expertise of cybersecurity capabilities including but not limited to hardware/software interconnections and interfaces such as: Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Content Filters, Remote Access solutions, Secure Access Service Edge, Identity and Access management, and Data Loss Prevention technologies
What we’re looking for:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Over 6+ years of strong experience of working knowledge in cybersecurity domains like IAM, Data security, Encryption, and Application security
- Strong experience in engineering network and endpoint security and design
- Extensive background in planning and crafting projects and analyzing existing network systems and procedures for efficiency and effectiveness
- Experience with multi-tier architectures and frameworks such as, TOGAF, NIST 207 – Zero Trust
- Experience building enterprise security strategy for cloud adoption or driving the program’s evolution to meet new requirement
- Experienced in designing and implementing Business Continuity Plans and Disaster Recovery Plans and facilities
- Understanding architectural implications of meeting industry standards such as PCI DSS, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and NIST/DoD frameworks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications preferred but not required CISSP, CISM, CISA, SANS, CCNA
- Experience in engineering PKI and Digital transformation solutions
- Design, engineer, deploy, and maintain custom automation products
- Build security tooling and automation for internal use that enable the Security team to operate at high speed and wide scale
