Senior Director, Analyst – Cloud/Network Security
Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Director possesses a keen eye for identifying gaps, problems and solutions within the market they serve. They use their knowledge to help clients make better decisions, solve complex issues and execute new practices that propel clients’ businesses toward key objectives. A Director publishes these insights as pragmatic and/or provocative research. Additionally, they reinforce Gartner’s value every day by engaging clients via in-person and virtual meetings, sales support visits, Gartner conferences and industry events.
Responsibilities:
- Create high quality, clear, actionable, “ must-have research ” content based on research best practices and methodologies in the following areas:
- Cloud Security
- Network Security
- Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to their designated content (see above) area via virtual or face-to-face interactions
- Support Research and Sales: Provide sales support serving as voice of the market to help research teams create content and to drive engagement with clients to make progress against their critical priorities to grow their business
- Create and deliver presentation materials for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of industry experience in cloud security and/or network security.
- Core knowledge and understanding of vendors offering network and cloud-delivered security services such as: Akamai, Broadcom (Symantec), Cisco, Cloudflare, DarkTrace, Forcepoint, Forescout, iBoss, Illumio, McAfee Enterprise, Microsoft, Netskope, Palo Alto Networks, Proofpoint, Versa Networks, VMWare, or Zscaler.
- Core knowledge and understanding of cyber security technologies or security issues such as: Hardware or Virtual Network Firewalls, Firewall-as-a-Service (FWaaS), Cloud Native Firewalls, identity-based (micro) segmentation, Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), Zero Trust, Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASB), Secure Web Gateways (SWG), Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection, Web Application Firewalls (WAF) or Network Detection and Response (NDR).
- Ability to grow into other areas of network security and cloud security coverage.
- Strong written and verbal proficiency in English, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions
- Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team
- Demonstrate superior analytical skills, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions
- Subject matter expertise comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements
- Willingness and ability to travel (where applicable)
