As the leader of Application Security, you will be responsible for researching, defining, governing, delivery and measurement of standards, processes, controls over Micron’s information system workloads both on premise and cloud.

You will collaborate with Micron’s global security team, multiple information technology teams, and business area IT solutions teams to gain understanding Micron’s software development lifecycles in which to integrate application security standards. With this, the training, mentoring, audit, and compliance processes to enable a center of excellence around and application secure application development strategy. In this role, you will gain a broad perspective by working on a variety of information sources, control solutions, and dynamic business conditions across a global organization to analyze issues, make well-reasoned recommendations and solve problems to protect and enhance organizational value.

Team Leadership:

  • Leads all staffing, training, and technical development for area of responsibility
  • Maintains an active performance management program that involves each areas leadership and positively impacts team member develop & performance
  • Encourages team member engagement by setting challenging goals and communicating Line of Sight performance
  • Manages projects to ensure deliverables are completed within the required timeframe
  • Assists in providing a vision for the Intellectual Property Steering Committee in accomplishing our overall corporate goals
  • Maintains clear communication of tactical and strategic area performance towards objectives
  • Optimizes department performance to align with the business plan, strategies, and goals
  • Provides mentorship and team member development that aligns to team member aspirations

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will work closely with multiple teams that make up IT, Information Security and Technology to drive impactful change in establishing a core competency in Micron application security ecosystem
  • Design, engineering and implementation of application security solutions in a scalable way for a worldwide enterprise
  • Implement static and dynamic application security tools (SAST/DAST) and work with development teams to interpret results and provide recommendations for remediations
  • Analyze and troubleshoot systems issues
  • Ensure that the potential impact of software development changes is well understood, using data to support understanding of upstream and downstream dependencies
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams for end-to-end testing and performance analysis of real-time data applications, solve issues, proactively identify new opportunities, and drive initiatives through to completion

Skills and Competencies:

Primary :

  • Experience developing Enterprise Security Standards, Policies, Guidelines and partnering with Development teams to setup Application Security Practice
  • Must have Knowledge of main Security-related activities in development such as Secure Coding, Threat Modelling, Risk and Privacy Assessment
  • Experience with performing static/dynamic application security tests
  • Deep understanding of OWASP Top 10 and CWE 25; with proven track record and experience in implementing and integrating remediation strategies
  • Good knowledge of Security Features and Mechanisms provided by the development platform : Python, C#, Java, RESTful API’s, DHTML, XML, SQL, Secure SDLC
  • Good understanding of SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with SDLC and associated CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Jira)
  • Familiarity with the tools for various security activities: Security Code Review, Static Code Analysis, Dynamic Analysis
  • High-Level Knowledge of security concepts in the various security domains which include authentication, authorization, secure coding, data validation, security testing, attacks and countermeasures, cryptography, etc.
  • Knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities

Secondary (Good to have):

  • Docker and Kubernetes, public Clouds – AWS, Azure, GCP
  • Application architectures and frameworks
  • Experience with open source software
  • Strong solution architecture, design, and impact analysis skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to effectively communicate technical details and vision in appropriate terminology at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to balance security with end user productivity and operational impacts in a large organization to provide transparent, secure solutions
  • Strong Agile development expertise, build in increments and iterate
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to see solutions to their conclusion
  • Ability to be self-directed and a fast learner and flexible to support new technologies and legacy applications.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer engineering or equivalent experience in a Cyber security related field
  • Minimum 5+ year experience working as a Software Engineer, Application Security
  • Experience incorporating automation and data analytics to improve processes
  • An understanding of information technology general controls
  • Project management and organization skills, including attention to detail
