As a Senior Principal Engineer Core Infrastructure, you will be aligned with teams focused on Storage, Network Connectivity and Security, and Data Centers and will be considered a technical expert across these different areas. You will focus on building solutions as we transform into a cloud, dev/ops-based organization as well as other highly visible initiatives to the organization. This person will act as a technical leader across these domains building our integration, automation, and dev/ops strategy. We welcome your industry experience and outside perspectives as we transform to a more digitally focused company. What you will do as a Senior Principal Engineer Core Infrastructure:
- Lead broad and highly visible efforts across the company for all business units.
- Set technical direction for connectivity integration, automation and dev-ops across the core infrastructure squads (Data Center, Remote Site, Security and Carrier, Capacity, Process).
- Demonstrate deep and broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies that affect the business across storage, security, network, and automation technologies.
- Identify strategic technology growth opportunities that enable Best Buy to grow as a business.
- Plan and lead the implementation of major organization-wide redesign, refactor, and optimization efforts.
- Demonstrate creativity and initiative in solving complex problems.
- Act as a technical or process leader across multiple teams and/or projects. They will be a leader and/or major contributor in the delivery of complex solutions.
- Develop and communicate multi-year technical strategy and lead in identifying further strategic areas for development.
- Act as a mentor and educator to peers as well as external teams. Engineers at this level are often invited as a speaker to industry events and may be a published author on relevant technical topics.
- Design and own large enterprise platforms/products roadmaps from start to finish.
- Design and configures large scale systems, automation and/or integrations.
- Keep up with industry trends and be an advocate for the standards.
- Create and improve internal tools and practices
- Take responsibility in ensuring team’s high work quality.
- Teach best practices and context internally and externally.
- Continually expand knowledge and understanding of core concepts of infrastructure engineering in all forms.

- Communicate effectively both verbally and written with various business partners, internal stakeholders, suppliers, c-level, and engineering audiences.
- Ensure stakeholder continuity.
- 9 or more years of relevant experience with a bachelors degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or related field OR equivalent relevant professional experience.
- 5 or more years of experience in a complex global enterprise.
- 5 or more years leading automation efforts with regards to data center, storage, and network connectivity service.
- 5 or more years of experience in routing protocols, security services, storage, switching, voice, internet and global load balancing in on-premise data centers, colocation facilities and/or cloud hosted.
- 2 or more years leading teams with an agile methodology framework.
- 2 or more years of experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, Google Cloud (GCP), or AWS.
- 11 or more years of experience working within matrix environments, demonstrating the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Industry certifications, including deep and broad AWS.
- Proven experience leading large enterprise installation and upgrade projects.
- Experience transitioning from physical data centers to AWS cloud-based services.
- Application development, devops, product and architecture experience.
- Management experience leading technology and process teams.
- Experience driving automation efforts.
- Experience managing different types of enterprise storage in the petabytes.
- Experience in heavy real-time and streaming industries.
- Experience in voice/data converged environments and with call center solutions.
- Experience working in PCI, SOX, HIPPA and High-Trust regulated environments.
- Deep understanding of digital platforms, how theyre delivered and supported.
- Ability to translate complex business problems into technology solutions.
- Ability to communicate with diverse audiences from c-level to engineers, vendors, and service providers.
- Financial acumen and experience developing business cases for technology solutions and transformations.
- Adept with modern development and engineering tools.
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
