Cloud Network Architect

Job Summary

Responsible for architecting a Global Cloud Networking strategy leveraging a combination of carrier options, vendor products, and Cloud-native capabilities| Collaborate with other Network Engineers to optimize data flow and minimize latency for priority communications between on-premises locations and CSPs | Develops SOPs and designs automation to aid software-defined networking of Cloud networking components and activities.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform assessments of Cloud network environments, identify gaps and implement performance improvement opportunities

• Develop Cloud network strategies for architecture and engineering solutions from concept through implementation.

• Analyze and provide recommendations for emerging Cloud network technologies and CSP advancements

• Supports network architecture consultants by preparing detailed specifications and documentation

• Plans, researches, evaluates, designs and develops software-defined networks by applying software design theories and principles to develop a compatible system infrastructure

• Focuses on cost/benefit analysis to determine the financial, operational, and technical feasibility of adopting cloud based infrastructure services • Assists in troubleshooting and triaging critical network-related issues and service events

• Performs other duties as required

Professional – Education & Experience

Qualification Level Education Degree Specification

Minimum Required Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Information Systems or related field

Qualification Level Experience

Minimum Required Ten or more years network infrastructure solutions architecture, engineering, implementation, integrations and operations of enterprise and carrier-class networks

Minimum Required Experience of technical experience and strong working knowledge of IP Internetworking, LAN Switching, WAN and network security Minimum Required Experience working with cloud-based network infrastructures (AWS & Azure) Minimum Required Experience with an infrastructure-as-code language, scripting, or programming language Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Knowledge & Skills

• Cloud Architecture experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

• Programming/scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, Ruby, Java, JavaScript)

• Configuration Management software experience (Chef, Ansible, Puppet, SaltStack)

• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK) or Software-Designed languages (Cisco ACI)

• Familiarity with running and scaling distributed software systems (load balancing, high availability, systems monitoring, etc.)

• Familiarity with structured text (JSON, YAML, XML)

• Proven application production support experience

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Passion for automating routine tasks

• Expert in networking with extensive experience with Cisco products and hands-on engineering experience

• Willingness to be a part of a culture of continuous improvement

• Ability to act as a SME and mentor to other engineers

• Extensive experience with Linux, Unix, and Windows operating systems internals and administration

• Ability to multitask and adapt to quickly changing priorities

• Ability and willingness to work off-hours on occasion
