Our Opening and Your Responsibilities

Primary Function

  • Responsible for overall establishment, management and configuration of IT Systems at Oakland HQ as well as remote sites (San Diego, Bristol and Newton).
  • Design, planning, operation, security, and day to day management of the organization’s VMware servers, Microsoft servers, Storage Area Networks, and Backup Appliances.
  • Determines the company’s data management and information technology needs and project plans how to set up the systems and provide users and the company as a whole with constant access to servers and data storage sites.
  • Administers servers, virtual servers, NAS, SAN, desktop computers, printers, phones, personal digital assistants, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches.
  • Design, manage and administer Microsoft Teams Phone System.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following

  • Support the implementation and documentation of various software management systems including VMware, Active Directory, Antivirus solutions and O365 Exchange Online.
  • Designs and oversees all server-side elements of company’s IT infrastructure which includes VMware, Storage Area Network, and configuring databases and access on the backend.
  • Leads the development and deploys performance-enhancing measure throughout the network.
  • Plans network backup planning including when to back up or transfer data and take the network offline with the least amount of impact or interruption and verifies data to ensure a successful backup.
  • Makes key hardware decisions such as replacing or upgrading servers or shifting database to new software to improve systems security, reliability, or speed.
  • Manages vendors for IT projects including sourcing and reaching, request for proposals, negotiating pricing, and project managing onsite vendor personnel.
  • Installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting the internal computer network, including planning and other activities reserved for the most complex issues.
  • Provides support to and trains users in operating system, office suite, and other designated application package usage.
  • Manages the company’s PBX telephone systems, including hardware and system upgrades, location moves, add, and changes (San Diego, Newton, and Bristol).

What You Need to Succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university in a computer related field.
  • 10 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum four years’ experience with PC/Windows help desk, Cisco routing and switching.
  • Experience with Unix administration, Microsoft Active Directory Administration and Exchange Online Email Administration.
  • Experience with Storage Area Networks (SAN)
  • Experience with Windows Server.
  • Experience with VMware.
