Position Summary;

The Senior Network Engineer position is a senior technical role responsible for the collaborative design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of network infrastructure, network operations, and technology solutions in use by Core‐Mark at all company locations across United States and Canada. This individual will serve as a senior technical resource, leading all support and design efforts in support of a “connected” experience for our employees. As a senior networking subject matter expert, the individual will have a deep technical understanding of critical network infrastructure in a large enterprise. The individual will coordinate all troubleshooting and/or triage efforts should the network experience any type of failure or incident. This position will also advocate for continual modernization of the network infrastructure, yielding an improved connected experience for our employees.

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to use professional oral and written communication along with strong analytical and critical thinking skills to successfully take ownership and drive technology problem or incident management. Effective and collaborative interactions with colleagues, end users, IT leaders, and business stakeholders is critical to ensure success. The candidate should be an effective change advocate, possessing the ability to understand the impacts of technology transformation. The senior engineer should also have experience mentoring junior engineers, with hopes of contributing to their technical progression. As a first responder to incidents, the Senior Network Engineer needs to demonstrate a positive, friendly, and empathetic attitude with their team members and internal employees.

Position Responsibilities;

  • Subject matter expert for network infrastructure and the connected experience for all employees
  • Designs, implements and supports all enterprise network infrastructure
  • Stays abreast of available network upgrades, reducing the potential for technical debt
  • Contributes to the design and implementation of a resilient, secure and scalable network
  • Ensures the resiliency of all network devices (routers, switches, wireless access points, VPN, VoIP)
  • Primary technical lead for all hosted voice infrastructure (VoIP)
  • Identify opportunities to improve process and operational disciplines
  • Mentor team members within various technology disciplines
  • Technical leadership with fulfilling various requests, including maintenance tasks and business

Skills and Experience;

  • 7+ years of Cisco networking leadership in large, multi-site enterprise
  • 7+ years of Cisco network hardware configuration management (routers, switches, VPN/IPSec)
  • 7+ years leading all Cisco VoIP infrastructure in a large, multi-site enterprise
  • 7+ years managing enterprise deployment and support for secure Wireless
  • 7+ years of operations leadership where incident management and metrics is emphasized
  • 7+ years of TCP/IP mastery, inclusive of LAN and secure WAN design and implementation
  • Strong analytical skills with incident and problem management
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including executive presentations
  • Highly collaborative, willing to help colleagues and business partners
  • Consistently demonstrates a positive attitude, which fosters an enablement culture

Desirable Skills;

  • Cisco design and configuration management of a highly resilient and secure network
  • Cisco Call Manager (VoIP)
  • Cisco Wireless networking
  • Checkpoint VPN configuration and management
  • Systems resiliency and integration experience (multi-site, geo-dispersed)
  • Application and/or product roadmap development expertise
  • Cisco CCNA‐level or equivalent proficiency certification
  • Collaboration platforms expertise (Skype, Teams, Slack)
