Summary: The Sr. Network Consultant/Architect will report to the Head of Integration Engineering as the highest escalation technical advisor to clients, both within and outside Baxter; taking a consultative yet authoritative approach to discovering, designing, and presenting solutions that will address immediate and strategic business needs, and help guide future architectural investments. The position is expected to have deep knowledge of Network, Wireless, VM, Cloud platforms, Security and Linux/Wintel. This position is also expected to create and maintain training material for Level 3-4 Support Engineers. Lastly, the position will create and maintain relationships with all Architects residing in various towers company-wide.

The Essential Roles and Responsibilities of The Role are:

  • Continually review new technologies and vendors, and integrate those solutions into existing and future product portfolios
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationship across company-wide architectural and engineering towers to ensure synergy across multiple teams
  • Develop and maintain standard design for validation lab and sandbox environments for R&D and Commercial
  • Create and execute Bill of Material for all engineering projects
  • Take lead on product comparisons, leading towards RFP and proof of concept pilots
  • Ensure all designs, whether new, augment or replacement, addresses the whole solution stack and not just a spot solution that only addresses a specific problem
  • Assist in troubleshooting network problems in wireless, virtual machine or network environment pre or post project go-live
  • Partnering with Technical Intelligence Engineers in communicating to, monitoring, investigating and remediating solutions for end clients
  • Lead all projects that intake through the Innovation team
  • Create technical design documents, disaster recovery/business continuity plans and network diagrams for all related projects
  • Manage the Baxter Technical Intelligence Center shift calendar and develop the turnover process during shift changes
  • Create and maintain technical writing documentation job aids for technical intelligence engineers to help deliver world-class experience to our customers (Novum and across portfolio). This may be supplemented with the creation of video-based training
  • Manage the confidential non-disclosure agreement process and assist in new vendor partnership selection
  • Collaborate with Technical Account Manager(s) supporting the Novum IQ product offering
  • Collaborate with the device deployment team to develop, maintain and store hospital network diagrams
  • Constructing presentations and delivering project information to stakeholders and partners.
  • Communicating complex technical subjects to technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum (10) years of experience in network engineering, operations, or architecture
  • Experience with Cisco, Fortinet and/or Juniper
  • Breadth and depth of knowledge spanning the entire OSI layer stack – from bits on a wire to addressing to DNS to transport to application
  • Experience doing group facilitation
  • Aptitude for leading customer conversations
  • Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot Wi-FI and security infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of 802.11x protocol
  • Client relationship management experience
  • Advanced time, expectation, and knowledge management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, technical writing, and diagramming skills
  • Technical fluency in network AND at least one of the following domains: security, cloud, storage, virtualization, compute
  • High level of fluency in systems/application requirements that drive network needs
  • Knowledge of multi-vendor environments and the challenges therein
  • Knowledge of field expedient networking/remote work tools such as: SSH, Ansible, VMs, VPN, tunnels, OOB management toolsets
  • Comprehensive understanding of network services and networks such as TCP/IP, BGP and OSPF
  • Advanced Knowledge of
    • Windows and Linux Operating Systems and Administration
    • Application clustering / load balancing concepts and technologies
    • VPN/Secure Remote connectivity technologies
    • Cloud & Partner connectivity design
    • Platform health monitoring tools
  • Working experience with virtual environments e.g. VMware, Nutanix, Cloud
  • Experience working with Identity Management and implementing multi factor authentication
  • Ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to coworkers in other departments who may not have knowledge of networking technical terminology
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Project, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of clinical interfaces using healthcare standards (HL7, FHIR, CCD, CCDA, HISP, Direct Messaging, and/or HIE platforms).
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security, regulations, and standards related to the management of patient health information (PHI).
  • Familiarity with DEVOPS and Automation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including developing and delivering presentations to internal and external audiences with the goal of obtaining feedback and alignment on project goals and delivery strategies.
  • Ability to travel 20% domestically

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of experience using Agile methodology to execute projects
  • Understanding of ITIL Framework
  • Proficiency with IHE profiles, HL7, & FHIR standards
  • Experience working with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) applications and/or clinical data sets.
  • CCNP, CompTIA Security+, Network+, CSSLP, or equivalent
  • Prior experience with Infusion Pump Embedded/User Interface development is a plus.
