What you’ll be doing

You will be joining CIBC’s US Infrastructure Planning & Engineering team. The Infrastructure Engineer to manage our organization’s IT infrastructure, ensuring its smooth operation and optimal performance.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Data Center builds and management, VMware technologies, Azure, Active Directory, Exchange and SMTP relay, EMC storage, physical server technologies, and related Azure services.

This role requires a deep understanding of infrastructure management, coupled with excellent technical skills and the ability to lead and collaborate with a team.
Key accountabilities are:

  • Manage and maintain the organization’s IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualization platforms, and related systems.
  • Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of the infrastructure components, addressing any issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Oversee the design, and workload management of Azure VMWare Services and migration of VMs to the cloud
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and administration of VMware technologies, including vSphere, VCenter, VSAN, Horizon, and VDIs.
  • Manage Active Directory services, including user accounts, group policies, security, and access controls.
  • Administer Exchange server and SMTP relay services, ensuring smooth email communication and system integrity.
  • Monitor and optimize EMC storage systems, ensuring efficient data storage, backup, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of physical server technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement infrastructure solutions that meet business needs and align with industry best practices.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, making recommendations for continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, data privacy regulations, and disaster recovery policies.
  • Lead and mentor a team of infrastructure professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.

At CIBC, we enable the work environment to be optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How You’ll Succeed

Leadership Skills: Act as the network team lead and provide advisory and expertise to ensure the project is on track to meet objectives. Support other team members by sharing knowledge, collaborating and problem solving.

Strong Communication Skills: You are a strong written/verbal communicator who is willing to speak up to ensure clear communication channels with team members and other teams. You are able to clearly communicate with different team members and teams while also being able to communicate to executive leadership when required.

Technological Expertise: You are able to demonstrate a strong technical experience in Networks and Security. Utilizing your skillset in a technical leadership capacity to drive progress and provide resolution to any issues that may arise.

Who You Are

You can demonstrate 12+ years of experience in the following.

  • Proven experience in infrastructure management, preferably in a leadership role
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with VMware technologies, including vSphere, vCenter, VCF, VxRail, NSX-T, HCX, vSAN, Horizon, VDI, etc.
  • Strong expertise in Active Directory administration, group policies, and security management.
  • Proficiency in managing Exchange server and SMTP relay services
  • Experience with EMC/DELL storage systems, data storage optimization, and backup and recovery strategies
  • Solid understanding of physical server technologies, server virtualization, and related hardware components
  • Familiarity with Azure services and cloud infrastructure an asset
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Certifications in relevant technologies (such as VMware, Microsoft, EMC) are an asset
  • Results-oriented professional with a passion for infrastructure management and a solid background in VMware technologies, Active Directory, Exchange, storage, and related technologies

You have a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
