We are actively seeking a Senior Information Security Engineer to join our Cybersecurity Engineering team based in Newport Beach, CA. This role can be on-site or 100% remote.

As a Senior Information Security Engineer, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by supporting the Pacific Life Enterprise Information and Security Office Engineering team. Focusing on Application Security, Automation, and Cloud Security (IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS.), you’ll be responsible for assisting the first line of defense (1 LoD) with the architecture, design, and configuration for company projects and initiatives.

The successful candidate will assist in providing guidance and recommendations to improve IT processes and the control environment while managing compliance with Pacific Life information security Standards. This position will work closely with business partners including IT, process owners, and internal audit groups to ensure appropriate controls are in place to mitigate risks.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Line 1 support for the Enterprise Information and Security Office Operations team
  • Line 2 support for Corporate and Divisional IT groups
  • Assist the IT departments with the architecture, configuration, and deployment of security tools managed by the Information Security Office
  • Increase Information Security Office Operational Team efficiency by introducing automation
  • Provide guidance around IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS security best practices as part of the company’s transition to the cloud
  • Collaborates with business partners to ensure compliance with cybersecurity and IT regulations, Standards, and best practices
  • Provide structured and consistent support to IT project teams by ensuring all enterprise information security requirements and associated risks are addressed
  • Participate in security project requirements definition as a representative of the enterprise governance teams
  • Facilitate the identification and documentation of project issues and risks
  • Serve as point of contact to enterprise IT teams working through all phases of the System development life cycle to support the integration of information security requirements and best practices

The Experience You Will Bring

  • 5+ years with information security engineering and/or architecture experience
  • 4+ years of experience in developing baseline security control requirements, security policies/procedures & risk management program.
  • Application Automation – Ansible, API integration, SOAR, and IT Operations
  • Experience with cloud deployments (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, and general IaaS, SaaS, PaaS) with a focus on security
  • SecDevOps – Familiarity with security integration into the software development life-cycle and associated tools
  • Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM, WAF, CASB, Microsoft ATP/Sentinel
  • Basic understanding of operating systems (Windows, MacOS, Linux, IoT), risk management, and platform security measures
  • Basic understanding of network technologies and securing robust network architecture
  • Information security experience and knowledge of general security concepts, such as defense-in-depth, least privilege, security architecture and design, threat modeling, etc.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Industry certifications such as CISSP or similar
  • AWS and Azure cloud experience and/or certifications
  • Experience with Ansible, Python, CI/CD Pipeline, and Containerization
