The Data Science & Analytics group at the Goodyear Innovation Center in Akron, Ohio is looking for a dynamic individual with data engineering and systems experience to partner with data scientists as well as our global technology, quality and innovation teams to derive valuable insights from our expansive data sources and help develop data-driven solutions for important business applications across the company.

The growing Data Science project portfolio includes areas of tire technology, operations, business and tire manufacturing. Our associates come from a broad range of backgrounds: Mathematics; Statistics; Cognitive Linguistics; Astrophysics; Biology; Computer Science; Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, and Industrial Engineering; and of course – Data Science. This diverse group works together to develop innovative tools and methods for simulating, modeling and analyzing complex processes throughout our company. We think you’ll be excited about having opportunities to: 
• Serve as an established specialist in data engineering with a deep knowledge and mastery of the field to support large scale Data Science initiatives
• Lead the effort to create and maintain data pipelines across tire technology, innovation and manufacturing processes
• Work with our innovation partners and plants to help integrate new data streams and enable better data traceability throughout a multi-stage manufacturing process
• Support the enterprise deployment of new technologies including cloud platform technologies within the organization
• Work closely with our data scientists to develop digital solutions and industrialize diverse data science products
• Help set-up and manage the administration of key data science technology systems
• Share and present your ideas and successes with IT professionals and business stakeholders throughout the company
• Help us drive “best data practices” within the global organization

What We Expect:
• Ph.D. in Computer Science or similar technical field and 3+ years of experience working with data or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or similar technical field and 7+ years of experience working with data

• Experience working with at least one subject in each of the following technology groups:
• Application programming for data extraction (e.g. GOlang, Python, SQL, Java, C/C++)
• Database design (e.g. SQL/NoSQL, knowledge of database normalization)
• Cloud platform technology (e.g. AWS, Jenkins, Lambda, Cloud Formation, Kubernetes)
• System administration and network security (e.g. firewall, proxy, key management, IAM, certificate management)
Social and Communication
• Good teamwork skills: ability to network across a global organization; ability to convince and lead; active listening skills; ability to prioritize and follow through; ability to communicate with stakeholders and establish shared expectations; ability to work in a team environment and deliver results on time. We also value a good sense of humor.
• Strong communication skills: capable of conveying information concisely to diverse audiences; experience with communicating dynamics of complex systems in a concise and clear manner. Knowledge of foreign languages would be a plus.
