Cadence Design Systems is looking for a talented and motivated software engineer to join the Tensilica platform software team. We are a small but diverse team developing and supporting tools and firmware for the Xtensa processor platform. This position will focus on embedded security and functional safety, but will involve working in other areas as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and maintain embedded software with a focus on security and functional safety.
  • Contribute to technical requirements and interface design specifications, working closely with architects and hardware designers.
  • Develop and test software components for embedded secure subsystems and safety-critical items.
  • Enhance the security and functionality of various embedded software modules.
  • Participate in security audits, design reviews and code reviews.
  • Participate in safety processes and audits to meet requirements for safety standards such as ISO 26262 / IEC 61508.
  • Contribute to the development of internal security processes and plans for standards compliance.

Requirements:

  • MS in CS/EE or related discipline, with 4+ years of work experience. Other qualifications will be considered with adequate relevant experience.
  • Experience developing and maintaining embedded software (C/C++/assembly).
  • Experience in debugging software on complex hardware, in simulation/emulation as well as on silicon.
  • Sound understanding of embedded sw principles, RTOS fundamentals, security and cryptography fundamentals.
  • Experience with low-level software interfacing to peripherals such as USB, I2C/I3C, SPI, encryption/decryption accelerators, etc.
  • Preferred: hands on experience with some or all of – crypto accelerators, encryption standards, secure boot, hardware security modules, ARM TrustZone-M or similar environments, secure debug.
  • Preferred: some experience with SW certification for ISO 26262 / IEC 61508.
  • Plus: experience with embedded Linux (configuration/boot/security).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work across diverse and geographically separated teams.
