Operational Technology Security Specialist

Job Description:

The Operational Technology (OT) Security Specialist will act as Technical liaison between Cybersecurity and Systems Engineering. ISSE is responsible for recommending and implementing Agency security requirements by addressing both security expectations and operational limitations.

The Operational Technology (OT) Security Specialist’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Communicate and enforce security policies, procedures, and safeguards for Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and IT/OT Devices, Equipment, and Interfaces, based upon NASA and NIST requirements.

• The primary technical interface with system engineering and provide guidance for establishing secure industrial control systems (ICS) in accordance with NIST 800-82 rev 2. This includes, but is not limited to, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and Other Control System Configurations such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) .

• As a member of the Security Team, the candidate will create new product and service offerings to reduce cyber risk in OT environments.

• Apply deep security skills to provide the following security services: design, build and protect industrial control systems, applications, data, assets and people for our clients.

Required Skills, Special Training, Certifications:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain required government clearances/badges as required by program and position

• Comptia Security + Certification within 12 months of being hired for position

• Must be customer focused and possess the ability to identify issues, analyze, and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of moderately complex technical problems

• Minimum of 2 years control systems security background with relevant previous experience in a technical or consulting environment.

• Experience with ICS systems and ICS security industry practices with exposure to Operational technologies

• Minimum 2 years with supporting PLC, DCS, SIS, HMI or SCADA systems. Experience supporting and troubleshooting industrial protocols such as OPC, Modbus TCP, HART, Foundation Fieldbus

• Comprehensive working knowledge of one or more of the following: IEC 62443/ISA 99, ISO 27001, NIST SP 800-82, CPNI Good Practice.

• Experience deploying or supporting security practices and technologies such as risk or vulnerability assessments, antivirus software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, centralized alert logging and monitoring in ICS environments.

Preferred Skills

* Experience with documenting test environments, requirements, results and POA&M resolution KSC expericne desired, but not required

Education/Years of Experience:

0-2 years of relavent experience with Master’s Degree or 3+ years expereince with a Bachelor’s Degree.

All viable candidates must be able to obtain unescorted base access to the Kennedy Space Center.
