Network Security Administration
Performs network security enhancements and hands-on network operations technical activities required for the ongoing implementation, support, and troubleshooting of the PGE enterprise network. Technologies supported include, but are not limited to, network firewall, host firewall, web application firewall, cloud security, and supporting management technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Category and Description
Network Security (NTSEC)
  • Develop, Implement, and maintain network security policy across various network security devices.
  • Perform periodic security reviews and cleanup work.
  • Function as a technical and operational subject matter expert for network security by participating in the rotating on-call schedule.
  • Create documentation based on established standards specific to network security.
  • Develop and maintain departmental metrics.
Network Support (NTAS)
  • Maintains the network support process and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures.
  • Uses network management software and tools to investigate and diagnose network problems, collect performance statistics, and create reports.
Incident Management (USUP)
  • Prioritizes and diagnoses incidents according to agreed procedures.
  • Investigates causes of incidents and seeks resolution.
  • Escalates unresolved incidents.
  • Facilitates recovery following resolution of incidents.
  • Documents and closes resolved incidents according to agreed procedures.
Qualifications
Education
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Experience
  • Typically five or more years of relevant voice, video, data, security, or collaborative services experience.
Certifications, Licenses and Training
  • Documented training or professional certifications preferred.

Schedule/Attendance
  • Ability to report to work and perform work during periods of severe inclement weather
  • Ability to consistently meet attendance standards for regular, reliable, predictable, full-time attendance [for part-time positions, change to part-time attendance]
  • Ability to adjust the schedule and work occasional extended hours or evenings/weekends when necessary to support operational needs
  • Ability to support after-hour on-call with the parameters of 15-minute phone response times and ability to be on-site within two hours if needed
Physical Capabilities
  • Computer use (use a computer regularly for entire work shift)
