The mission of our Digital Platform Engineering team’s is to develop scalable platforms and products that allow us to embed insurance into the digital environments of our distribution partners even easier and faster, while offering a seamless experience and exceptional value to our customers. As a Lead Software Engineer on the team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering on the mission of building a world-class global insurance integration platform and a next-generation digital policy engine that will power the future of insurance. You will develop a core set of services to enable our distribution partners to embed insurance at scale into their digital environments. In this hands-on role, you’ll be involved in engineering solutions day to day, directly engaging with key stakeholders to understand requirements that will serve as the foundation for the software solutions your teams will build. As you do so, you’ll leverage your deep technical expertise of Azure Cloud and .NET stack along with your knowledge of systems integration to ensure the feasibility and suitability of the solutions you’re building within both our current technical landscape and our future roadmap. You’ll own the outcome from design to development to implementation and support, ensuring that the squads you’re leading are able to deliver innovative software solutions on time with the scalability needed to support the evolution of business needs.

In This Role, You Will

  • Serve as both hands-on engineer (75%) and technical lead (25%) for a team of developers as you work in partnership to create complex, high-performing software quickly and efficiently
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and business stakeholders to understand business requirements and convert into technical stories and software solutions
  • Build software that is durable across use cases and reflects platform/product mindset
  • Develop proofs of concept (POCs) with new tech and writing well-designed, scalable, and testable code
  • Utilize your deep understanding of Azure cloud services, including their capabilities and limitations as you both build software and guide development within your team
  • Serve as technical lead for team of developers and make sure they have what is need to perform their jobs, manage their work, motivate them to perform their duties well, and monitor performance
  • Conduct code reviews, guiding engineers to how to refactor code to ensure optimized, fully functional applications
  • Define and build adaptable, modular, and reusable solutions across end-to-end customer journey (sales to servicing and claims) in alignment with global and regional strategies & reference architectures
  • Partner with architects in implementation of appropriate digital solution architecture governance processes and tools while maintaining a key focus on design patterns and technology standards reuse
  • Define and manage repository of digital architecture assets (APIs, Services) and coordinate effective reuse across the digital enterprise
  • Explore and evaluate new /open source technologies for use within the digital enterprise to foster innovation and influence speed to market
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to build out / assemble reference materials, web sites and code samples and drive acceleration of digital transformation efforts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
  • 7+ years of experience working within the Microsoft stack including .NET Core 6, C#, JavaScript, Web API & Microservices – REST, gRPC, Signal R, and/or Kafka PubSub; previous experience leading teams and/or projects preferred
  • Expertise in e2e API Life Cycle Management with API design first mindset
  • Hands on experience on Cloud technologies like Azure IaaS / PaaS including with Azure Services such as Azure Cosmos DB (MongoDB), Azure Service Bus, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure KeyVault, Azure Blob Storage, Azure AD Authentication, Application Insights, and/or Azure Redis Caching
  • Demonstrated experience working with SQL Server and creating/optimizing/troubleshooting simple to complex queries
  • Previous experience with Integration Architectures from API Mediation to Event Bus models
  • Experience in application modularization and composition including adoption of Micro Service Architecture models and use of technologies such as C# Services and NodeJS
  • Experience in Integration Architectures from API Mediation to Event Bus models
  • Experience in Information Security and Risk Management is a plus
  • Insurance and/or Financial Services industry experience is a plus
  • Experience with Digital Micro Insurance ratings and models is a plus

In Jersey City, NJ the pay range for the role is $122,500 to $198,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. This range is specific to Jersey City, NJ and may not be applicable to other locations.
