US Technology, Infrastructure & Innovation (US TI&I) enables the continuous transformation of our Bank by accelerating the shift to digital, strengthening operational resilience, simplifying what we do, improving CIBC’s speed to market and protecting our Bank’s assets.

The teams work to maximize the investment in resources and technology while building an appropriate balance between high-touch client service and our fiduciary responsibility to protect CIBC, our clients, and our shareholders from undue risk.

What you’ll be doing

As a hands-on Lead Software Engineer/Architect in technology architecture, you will architect and drive the design and development of complex, highly integrated, data-intensive custom software. Work with a team of experienced developers, system analysts, and QA testers and regularly interact with business partners regarding requirements and project milestones. Hands-on and staying very technical. Responsible for developing solution architectures that reflect the integration of business logic, processes, and data that deliver on the business need. Guide solution delivery teams in the implementation of the solution architecture. Contribute to the architecture roadmap that integrates and aggregates all of the solutions for a business unit.

How you’ll succeed

  • Client engagement: – Meet with internal clients to understand their priorities, advise them on solutions, and provide forward-looking technical solutions. Use your knowledge of software development tools and methods to help clients meet their goals.
  • Relationship building: – Work with internal CIBC teams, including operations, business, security, and cloud engineering. Grow your network, deepen existing relationships, and collaborate with others to ensure clients are connected to the right people and opportunities.
  • Leveraging technology: Become a technology expert. Share your knowledge by introducing clients to our banking applications, enabling them to better manage their banking needs.

Who you are

  • You serve as a “trusted advisor” to the application development team and their business partners to achieve strategic objectives through the effective use of technology.
  • You are an expert with: Azure, Asp.NET, MS SQL, ETL, Entity Framework, browser-based technologies like JavaScript, jQuery, CSS, etc.
  • You have hands-on development for prototype solutions
  • You have experienced with large-scale software development; and experience with DevOps is a plus.
  • You have a minimum of 7 years of experience software engineering and architecture. Technology experience within financial services is preferred.
  • You are a transformative thought leader who is responsible for the development and implementation of solution roadmaps.
  • You can build rapport with all business stakeholders.
  • You have worked as a senior contributor to cross-functional teams to design and deliver software solutions that deliver business value.
  • You have the ability to handle a high degree of ambiguity; adapting to changing priorities; continuously finding areas to deliver value and have the ability to handle multiple, concurrent, large initiatives.
  • You assess, strategize, and manage the delivery of data-related projects.
  • You collaborate with partner teams to define deliverables and create documentation.
  • You develop solution concepts.
  • You excel at defining both solutions and data architecture.
  • You have demonstrated experience in analyzing relevant information and prepare recommendations to guide teams in building high-quality solutions.
  • You can manage technical tasks at a granular level.
  • You proactively identify risks. Anticipate issues and guide teams through complex situations.
  • You act as a key liaison across the IT department.
