The Support Analyst plays a pivotal role in support of local plant technology. This role will understand the local plant technology requirements and support, modify, and maintain local applications minimizing disruption in service in both common and plant-specific applications where possible. They understand how local applications are imbedded in production processes and effectively support the needs of the local plant staff by providing a collaborative ability to quickly assess, understand, and effect resolutions to immediate incidents. Additionally, they play a key role in the greater Global Support organization ensuring common systems are managed, supported and any disruption is kept to a minimum.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support, coordinate, and, eventually, upgrade local applications not supported by Corporate IT. In particular, be prepared to modify programming code such as VB, Access dB’s, Excel, and other Office type software that is used in the manufacturing of tires on the shop floor or used by administrative plant support staff. This task will require, when reasonable and appropriate, modification or update of programming code, use of ODBC for data extract, and adherence to Global IT standards
  • Ensure all local systems and applications are fully documented
  • Respond to or appropriately redirect Global Operations request to facilitate small changes/improvements as required by the business stakeholders.
  • Work with local plant IT Technician group as well as other plant Support Analysts and IT Technician groups to support the population of local applications that reside on the shop floor and connected offices
  • Contribute as required/able to provide inputs for Global Operation Support for advice on systems, applications, process improvements, and standards to be used in the local plant environment.
  • Escalates to more senior IT analysts and/or Global Operations Support as needed to ensure local application incidents are resolved effectively and quickly.
  • Provide functional direction to IT technical design and constructions of Global Operations systems.
  • Coordinate business subject matter experts (SMEs) to thoroughly test new applications and changes to existing applications
  • Catalog all local shadow systems and work with Global Operations Support for upgrade paths.
  • Resourceful, self-starter working independent where feasible while contributing to the overall Global Support team.
  • Able to multi-task shifting focus as necessary to ensure priority plant system disruptions are triaged and acted upon appropriately.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or comparable experience in related field.
  • 3+ years working in an Application Support, Application Developer or related role.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with all levels of the business, employees, consultants, and contractors.
  • Team oriented with the ability to promote the successful advancement of the group
  • High quality analytical skills, the ability to pay attention to details.
  • Resourceful, self-starter working independent where feasible while contributing to the overall Global Support team.
  • Able to multi-task shifting focus as necessary to ensure priority plant system disruptions are triaged and acted upon appropriately.
  • Ability to identify priorities, deadlines, and expectations and execute assignments accordingly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting IT applications in a Manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools, Microsoft Development tools including VB.Net, Perl, SQL Development.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server databases, ability to effectively navigate Oracle and SQL databases using tools like Toad and SQL Navigator.
  • Demonstratable IT triage, problem solving and diagnostic skills, effective problem solver.
  • Working knowledge of Service Now tools
