IS Senior Cybersecurity Engineer

Summary

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • Under the general direction of the IS manager, the Senior Cybersecurity Engineer assists in developing and maintaining an integrated program to protect the integrity, confidentiality and availability of all information resources of the health system. Responsibilities include but are not limited to installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting all related IT security systems and components.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Works to support the enterprise security applications and systems as well as the enterprise firewall and intrusion detection / prevention systems.
    • Works to participate in investigations into problematic activity and interprets implications of the activity for appropriate resolutions.
    • Works collaboratively to design and execute vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and security audits.
    • Reviews logs and reports of all in place devices to ensure the effectiveness of security solutions.
    • Provides routine systems analysis and security audits.
    • Assists in developing information protection procedures and guideline to support the information security program.
    • Effectively plans and manages assigned activities to ensure that objectives and schedules are met.
    • Provides on call technical support as necessary.
    • Maintains knowledge of IT security related initiatives and best practices.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Must possess an information security related certification. CISSP or GIAC preferred. Will consider CISCO or Microsoft certifications.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Professional knowledge of areas of responsibility (including theories, principles, and concepts) normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Networking, Computer Science, MIS or closely related discipline, with 4 or more years of work experience.
    • Demonstrates experience in implementing IDS, Host Side Intrusion Detection, Firewall configuration, email encryption and PHI filtering as well as Anti-Spam / Virus and content filtering necessary.
    • Cisco security appliances, and other security technologies, to include Firewalls, ISE, Agari SecureX, Umbrella.
    • Linux experience a plus.
    • Experience with configuring, troubleshooting, and network monitoring.
    • Knowledge of HIPAA and HITECH information security directives a plus.
    • Excellent written and oral communication, and analytical skills necessary to resolve problems.
    • Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license and be able to meet the insurance requirements of the hospital.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like with the exception of visits to the computer room.
