About the position

This position is a part of the Policy and Program Management team that is within the WaTech’s Office of Cybersecurity (OCS). OCS provides enterprise information security services, platforms, technologies, and strategic direction for cybersecurity for Washington State agencies. This position reports to the Deputy CISO for Policy and Program Management.

As an Information Technology Auditor, you will be responsible for independently conducting complex IT security compliance audits across multiple state agencies, local governments, or different levels of government. You will conduct thorough and effective IT security audits and help agencies safeguard public information, ensuring that WaTech-supported agencies adhere to state- mandated security policies and standards.

Duties

Some of what to expect with this role:

  • Obtain sufficient and appropriate evidence to provide a reasonable basis to support findings and objective conclusions.
  • Analyze relevant documents, such as policies, standards, procedures, logs, and reports.
  • Utilize analytical procedures to analyze IT security data to identify trends, anomalies, or potential issues.
  • Develop and conduct complex IT compliance audits. Provide independent assessments of the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes related to the agency’s IT infrastructure and systems
  • Lead audits and projects that involve agency staff in the audit process.
  • Define the information, methodologies, and analyses needed to fully address the audit.
  • Perform preliminary research and review risk assessments to outline the audit agreed upon procedures and scope of work.
  • Develop and review planning work that complies with applicable industry standards, WaTech requirements, and governmental or third-party auditing standards
  • Prepare accurate documentation for all audit work accomplished, overall conclusions reached, and recommendations for improving any deficiencies noted

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 12 years of Information Technology experience. **A bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, computer science, information systems, or other related field may substitute for up four years (bachelor’s degree) or six years (master’s degree), respectively, of the overall 12 years of experience required.**
  • The overall 12 years of experience must include:
    • Five years of professional experience conducting Information Technology audits
  • Must possess one or more of the following certifications, or equivalent:
    • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
    • General Security Essentials Certification (GSEC).
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
    • Certified Information Auditor (CIA).
    • Holistic Information Security Practitioner (HISP).

 

Preference may be granted to applicants with the following:

  • Demonstrated experience in project management managing multiple projects, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience conducting information technology audits for public sector agencies or government entities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development, such as participation in professional organizations (e.g., ISACA, ISC2) and attendance at industry conferences.
  • Experience conducting information technology audits of Cloud providers, including providers of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).

Telework: This position is approved for telework. However, it may require the incumbent to come onsite monthly to attend meetings and trainings or as needed for business purposes. WaTech supports flexible work arrangements and provides the necessary technology to work remotely.
