We are looking to expand our talented team in the San Diego, California area, specifically for an Information Security Systems Engineer to support our Distributed Common Ground System – Navy (DCGS-N) Program.

What You’ll Get to Do:

The Information Security Systems Engineer (ISSE) provides subject matter expertise and analysis to clients and customers alike. The role of the ISSE is to bridge the gap between high level security policies/procedures and technical/operational implementation of those requirements. In addition, you will:

  • Work collaboratively to analyze problems and identify solutions
  • Be responsible to conduct assessments of existing IT architecture for compliance with security requirements from applicable security frameworks (such as NIST, DCID, NISPOM, RMF, etc.)
  • Create documentation to support information system assessment and authorization packages
  • Provide continuous monitoring support for information systems.
  • Develop IT architecture deliverables, specific to information security countermeasure implementations, for operational systems and systems under development.
  • Develop IT security policies, standards, and guidance.
  • Become an expert in information technology, technical writing, and project management.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • ACTIVE Top Secret, preferably with SCI accreditation
  • Ability to work in a SCI Facility in Point Loma, San Diego, CA (duties may be transferrable to a similar facility in Charleston, SC, or Aurora, CO)
  • Typically has a minimum 5 years of related work experience
  • Strong experience with IA principles such as confidentiality, integrity, non-repudiation, availability, and access control, and security testing.
  • Experience in designing, developing, implementing, or integrating Information Assurance (IA), security systems, and system components
  • Experience in implementing or integration IA with networking, computing, and enclave environments, including multiple enclave environments and enclaves or environments with differing data protection/classification requirements
  • Knowledge of accreditation processes (especially helpful to know the Department of Defense’s DSS NISPROM/RMF process)
  • Has built IA into systems deployed to operational environments
  • Has assisted architects and systems developers in the identification and implementation of appropriate information security functionality to ensure uniform application of Agency security policy and enterprise solutions
  • Experience building security architectures
  • Knowledge of design and implementation of trusted relations among external systems and architectures.
  • Previous assessment and mitigation experience with system security threats/risks throughout the program life cycle
  • Communicated and successfully brokered balances between security requirements and operational needs
  • Knowledge of federal security requirements and mandates (e.g., Risk Management Framework (RMF), Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), National Standards of Information Technology (NIST))
  • Experience working on DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) across multiple operating systems and applications
  • Working knowledge of automated security testing tools (i.e. ACAS, Retina, GAUNTLT, ZAP, SCAP, etc.)

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Completed college course work, especially with a Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS)
  • DoD 8570.01-m IAT Level 2 certification
  • Familiarity with CANES, SIPRNet, DCGS-N afloat networks
  • Familiarity with DoD 8500-series and 8510.01 IA policy directives, approaches to cyber security, knowledge of security procedures, IATO and ATO requirements
  • Familiarity with cloud or container deployments (AWS or OpenShift knowledge preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Agile software development lifecycle and DevOps mentality
  • Familiarity with the FADE Program

Pay Range: The proposed salary range for this position is $79,000-$161,900. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
