What is the Global Information Security group responsible for?

The Global Information Security‘s mission is to securely enable Franklin Templeton’s business transformation, enhance our global security and risk posture focusing on protecting our clients, employees, brand integrity, and digital assets.

What is the Information Security Manager responsible for?

This is a hands-on role reporting to the Director of Security Engineering and SecOps within the Global Information Security division. This role will directly supervise a talented team of analysts and engineers primarily responsible for the operations and management of the complex array of information security tools and applications to protect the firm. It requires a solid understanding of enterprise-level security frameworks, policies, processes, standards, and excellent practical knowledge of cloud, network, and application security. The Information Security Manager must be a versatile leader and an experienced security professional who is able to work in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated commitment to continuously seeking to leverage cutting edge security solutions for the support of one of the largest investment firms in the world.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of an Information Security Manager?

  • Lead a geographically remote team to help design, manage and build security technology processes and solutions which span nearly the entire globe with offices in over 35 countries
  • Manage team of information security professionals, recruiting and training employees, communicating job expectations, and monitoring job performance
  • Drive security solutions for endpoint protection, vulnerability management, SIEM, SOAR, data loss prevention and EDR
  • Leverage automation, API integrations, and scripting (in various languages)

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

  • Strong leadership skills and experience leading diverse, remote teams across the world
  • Ability to lead large technology projects, including the design and deployment of new IT security systems and services and to monitor performance of applications to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the existing infrastructure
  • Ability to analyze complex technology and business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders across the organization to develop solutions
  • Understanding of cybersecurity “best practices” including principles, security protocols and standards such as OWASP, NIST and CIS Critical Security Controls
  • Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware, applications, software, and emerging technology
  • Exposure to varied operating systems – UNIX, Linux, Windows, OSX
  • Proven experience in the role of System Engineer or Information Security Engineer or related job function
  • Endpoint Security (endpoint detection response tools, anti-virus, data loss prevention)
  • Experience with cloud security and infrastructure automation (AWS and Azure) and cloud access security brokers (CASB)
  • Hands on experience in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, application security, and database and operating system security
  • Insider threat detection and response preferred
  • Incident response processes and procedures
  • Experience in writing run books, procedures, processes, policies
  • Technical and industry certifications or equivalent experience are preferred (CISSP, AWS Security, C|EH, Azure certifications)
  • Ability to provide 2nd tier on call support while leading a global team
  • Actively engage with the security operations center (SOC), security engineering, and other business and technology teams across the world
  • Lead the team in conducting security assessments for threats and vulnerabilities and adjusts the controls and configurations for acceptable security standards and response
  • Define, implement, assess, and maintain the adequate controls necessary to protect software, applications, networks, hardware, systems, and mobile devices in accordance with international security requirements and standards
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of run books, playbooks and platform/application standards
  • Ensure acceptable patching levels for security tools and applications are maintained, help drive security awareness across the enterprise and assist with emergencies and security incidents after hours
  • Demonstrated ability to keep up with industry trends and best practices including professional certifications
