Position Overview

This position is responsible for safeguarding information by ensuring that security risks are identified, assessed, and accurately reported.

This position acts as the focal point for security compliance related activities and ensures local procedures and activities comply with all regulatory requirements, internal policies, procedures, guidelines and standards. In addition is responsible for the Vendor Management program development, implementation, auditing reports and responses to ensure timely and effective corrective actions.

Responsibilities

  • Assess information security risk through qualitative risk analysis on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the Security Policy and Information Security Program.
  • Conduct functional and gap analyses to determine the extent to which key business areas and infrastructure comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend new information security technologies and counter-measures against threats to information or privacy.
  • Develop and distributes pertinent security reports and dashboards.
  • Collaborate with IT Management, along with Senior Management to manage security threats and vulnerabilities
  • Partner with current vendors and internal departments to ensure that on-going security monitoring of information systems is conducted in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science and/or information security.
  • Minimum 3+ years’ security related work experience, preferably with a financial institution and knowledge of overall credit union operations.
  • Experience with network security assessment tools, perimeter security, social engineering, and other aspects of corporate security practices.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and techniques
  • Understanding of audit principles
  • Knowledge of Information Security risk and industry best practices.
