Role And Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain on-premise Quantum infrastructure security including network, router, server, and other IT infrastructure security.
  • Working closely with Quantum security lead, other security SMEs, and SREs, develop and operationalize processes to ensure IBM Quantum systems stack remains secure from current and future security vulnerabilities.
  • Provide technical and design guidance across the IBM Quantum systems stack, help define architectural strategy with security focus, and help ensure system and solutions deployed are secure by design.
  • Develop and articulate robust and innovative security technical solutions that apply to network servers, endpoints, and databases, and adopt security architecture elements to mitigate threats as they emerge.
  • Build security solutions that align with internal security, regulatory or deal requirements.
  • Present, review, and modify the solution with the internal/external clients and key stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with developers to develop, build, and deploy robust and secure services for the IBM Quantum platform.
  • Develop security mechanisms and automation that enables developers to quickly identify and fix security issues and report on potential security issues throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participate in code reviews, vulnerability testing, validation of remediation of vulnerabilities, and, in general, improve secure software development lifecycle.
  • Identify and communicate current and emerging security threats.
  • Identify security design gaps in existing and proposed architectures and recommend changes or enhancements.

This position is located in Yorktown Heights, NY or remote.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience working as a security SME.
  • Technical knowledge in three or more domains in cloud services context – Routing, configuring vLANS, Firewall policy, Anti-DDoS, Web Application Firewall, Intrusion Prevention Systems, Security Information and Event Management, Threat and Vulnerability Management, Static and dynamic security scans, Penetration Testing, Identity and authentication, DevSecOps, and micro services
  • Proficiency in networking (OSI model, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSL, routed protocols) and control of network-based exploits
  • Experience using infrastructure security monitoring tools and demonstrated ability to develop automation scripts to collect logs and send alerts.
  • Deep knowledge of the IBM Security Services portfolio of services
  • Thorough understanding of current cybersecurity threats and latest threat mitigation techniques at front-end and backend of the stack
  • Experience in threat modelling and risk assessment techniques
  • Experience with Vulnerability and patch management, modern endpoint protection, SSO/MFA, PKI/Certificate management
  • Proficiency with at least one modern programming language
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Practitioner of Agile/Scrum methodologies

Preferred Technical And Professional Expertise

  • Understanding of compliance issues and working knowledge of key cloud security standards eg NIST, CIS, NCSC, ISO.
  • Detailed knowledge of security and deployment models for IaaS, PaaS, CaaS offerings provided by at least one of IBM Cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud platforms
  • Experience working with DevSecOps automation tools and best practices
  • Development experience with Python or other similar scripting languages
  • Experience using IBM Cloud supported security services including id and key management services
