Global Information Security Internship in Technology Digital Governance – Summer 2025

CME Group is currently seeking motivated and talented students who want to help us solve some of the most complex challenges in financial technology. Technology teams at CME write and maintain ultra low-latency electronic trading platforms, risk management systems, and front-end trading interfaces, all of which are central to CME’s business. CME’s Technology Summer Internship program offers students opportunities to learn more about CME’s business, our role in the financial industry, and the types of technology that keep our markets running. Students will develop both their technical skills and expand their network with access to industry experts, while working alongside other talented and ambitious students with a passion for FinTech.

The Global Information Security (GIS) Department is a critical component of the Technology Division and is focused on delivering a safe and secure environment for the operation of our markets. The IT Compliance & Controls team within GIS focuses on conducting and managing IT control testing and the continuance compliance testing and monitoring program; conducting software development lifecycle and application control compliance testing; managing the issues management process; governance of IT policy, functional standards, and IT controls; and managing reporting to department and division management.

The intern in Technology Digital Governance will be responsible for:

  • Development and enhancement of on-demand reporting for stakeholders.
  • IT control enhancements and framework alignment.
  • Support for IT control testing initiatives.
  • Research on cybersecurity trends and industry developments.
  • Documentation development and enhancement.
  • Review of baseline controls and CCSK framework alignment.

The intern may also participate in control optimization, IT compliance training development, and automation of IT control testing processes if time allows.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a college/university degree in computer science, information systems, cybersecurity, business, risk management, or another related field
  • Ability to analyze data, understand trends, and summarize findings effectively
  • Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, and/or SQL/Oracle
  • Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity protocols, IT governance, and/or risk management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with a passion for learning and problem-solving
  • Team-oriented with a desire to collaborate

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of control frameworks including CCSK, NIST, and/or COBIT
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, or similar project management/documentation tools
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Google Looker and/or Tableau
