As an enterprise security architect within Starbucks Technology you lead architecture development for global Starbucks Technology solutions across multiple business domains from a Cybersecurity lens. Architects represent Cybersecurity leadership for their aligned business domains and are accountable for business consultations. As a leader, you are expected to actively participate in the technology community and lead the development of security best practices, approved patterns, and champion Starbucks Cybersecurity principles globally.
Summary of Key Responsibilities 
Future State Planning and Road-mapping 
  • Participate in the Enterprise Security strategy process & architecture function driving architectural standards and patterns focused on retail security
  • Advise technology and business leaders within aligned domains in defining priorities, key initiatives, and organizational alignment to support making informed risk decisions
  • Act as visionary to proactively assist in setting direction for future security strategies
Strategic Business Case Development 
  • Align standards, frameworks, and security business cases with overall business and technology strategy • Identify and communicate current and emerging security threats
  • Assist in development of proposals for enterprise security strategy based on threat analysis, opportunity identification, value cases, and risk
Technology and business consultation 
  • Act as a subject matter expert consultant to IT and business leaders in the development of enterprise solutions
  • Support a risk based pragmatic approach to security consultations
  • Facilitate architectural design and on-going change request approvals for retail technology programs across multiple domains
  • Consult with project teams to fit projects to security architecture, as well as to identify when it is necessary to modify the architecture to accommodate security requirements
  • Create exceptional quality documentation of all security architecture design and analysis work
Policy Definition and Governance 
  • Assist with efforts for the evaluation and selection of security architecture standards in conjunction with our business and technology partners
  • Create, support and facilitate the governing principles that guide security architecture decision making
  • Prepares, champions, and educates client groups and Cybersecurity team on changes in security policies and best practices across multiple domains and enterprise retail programs
Managing Teams 
  • Develops partners indirectly through coaching and mentoring on security control design and implementation
  • Assist in development of strategic and operational plans for the security architect work group
  • Supports fellow cybersecurity professionals in promoting a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork
Domain Proficiency 
  • Demonstrate functional and business knowledge for in the retail technology area with an enterprise context
  • Act as a subject matter expert and provide security domain consulting, guidance, and recommendations
  • Continuous development of security domain knowledge in both the industry and the Starbucks enterprise
  • Ability to estimate the financial impact of security solution options
Leadership 
  • Demonstrates accountability, makes timely and appropriate security decisions on programs and multiple domains
  • Develops partnerships and influences others both internally and externally
  • Motivate and collaborate to create a team environment and enable team-based fulfillment of control objectives
  • Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partners, business and customer results

Basic Qualifications 

  • Overall IT experience – 7 years
  • Security control implementation experience – 5 years
  • Security architecture experience – 1 years
  • Functional and systems modeling – 3 years
  • Business process and system design – 5 years
  • Strategic planning – 3 years
  • Security risk assessment experience – 2 years

Preferred Qualifications

  • CISSP or GIAC certification
  • Retail Technology Security experience including architecture, design, testing, and education in an agile environment.
  • Experience in performing and/or participating in technical assessments in direct support of a major compliance effort (e.g. SOC1, SOC 2, HITRUST, HIPAA, PCI, or ISO)
  • Understanding of the NIST CyberSecurity Framework (CSF)
  • Utilizes perception, creativity, transformational ideas, system thinking, and organizing techniques in their work
  • Demonstrate a bias for action and apply iterative thinking and approach
  • Experience with security engineering concepts applied to emerging technologies
