THE ROLE

The Enterprise Network Architect is a technical role in the IT organization that develops, maintains, assures, and evolves the network and connectivity domain architectures and solutions across the Oshkosh global enterprise. This individual is responsible for conceiving, proposing, planning, maintaining, enhancing, ensuring business alignment with, and growing their domain architecture. The role is necessary to ensure their architecture domain is neither over- nor under- built when compared with current and future needs of the commercial enterprise.

How You Make An Impact

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Envision, plan, and execute projects that enhance global network connectivity solutions that involve the following existing technologies as well as new designs:
    • Enterprise route, switch, & wireless infrastructure
    • Software-Defined WAN (SD-WAN)
    • WAN, LAN & MAN topologies with a diverse carrier portfolio
    • Data Center networking
    • Security infrastructure, including Palo Alto Firewalls, GlobalProtect, and Panorama
    • Load Balancing, including F5 BIG-IP
    • Public Cloud connectivity, including Azure ExpressRoute
    • Campus Wiring
    • Other technologies related to network & connectivity, such as event & performance monitoring, audit & asset management tools, and
  • Oversee research into industry standards, architectural options, features, and functionality; and creating use cases, models, design structures/patterns; and conducting planning meetings.
  • Establishes and maintains a current state representation and future roadmap of their domain and their responsible area.
  • Oversee the research, design and advocate for new technologies, architectures, and products that will enable the business to operate “better-cheaper-faster-safer”.
  • Serve as a most senior subject matter expert in network and connectivity solutions.
  • Ensure project teams comply with current standards, policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
  • Responsible for ensuring solutions align to the organization’s ability to build and maintain.
  • Provide high level technical leadership to project and operations teams, as needed, by acting as a consultant on fit-for-use analysis, build-vs-buy, and solution-optioning/selection/decision activities.
  • Responsible for authoring standards, as needed, for ratification by IT leadership.
  • Work closely with other enterprise architects, subject matter experts, and IT personnel to ensure adequate security solutions are in place throughout all IT systems to mitigate identified risks sufficiently, while meeting business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Support high complexity incidents, requests, and maintenance as an escalation point for operational teams.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience architecting network and connectivity solutions in a large, global enterprise.
  • Experience with network and security solutions in a public cloud environment (Azure / AWS)
  • Ability to interact with company personnel, builds strong relationships at all levels and across all business units and organizations, and understands business imperatives.
  • Strong understanding of the business impact of IT tools, technologies, and policies.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Graduate degree in Information Systems, Management or equivalent.
  • Relevant industry recognized certifications (CCIE, CISSP, PMP, etc.)
  • Experience with consensus building to bring together opposing views and steering debates toward practical solutions and paths forward.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, etc.
  • Information Technology experience within the manufacturing industry.
