The Common Technology Platform (CTP) ART is looking for an Engineer to join the Department of Cloud (DOC) team. This team is primarily responsible for the AWS CDK library & AWS Config Rules. We enjoy working with teams across the enterprise as they onboard solutions on the Tiger Team. This position will help shape, define and build the future of Mutual of Omaha’s Information Technology platform for our internal I/S teams, business partners, and ultimately our Customers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • You’ll be working with the team that delivers AWS reference architectures to be used by teams across the enterprise as they work to modernize existing technologies and build new capabilities to deliver to Customers.
  • Apply software engineering principles to infrastructure and operations problems with a focus on automation and self-healing.
  • Collaborates with teams across the enterprise to uncover pain points and formulate ways to accelerate delivery.
  • Adopt existing Reference Architectures and their implementations; contribute to the design of new Reference Architectures.
  • Develop the best experience for the end user by maintaining a customer-focused and product mindset.
  • Delivers an exceptional developer experience to our engineers, with a focus on self-service using modern approaches.
  • Investigate new system solutions to enhance service delivery experiences through innovative experiments or Proofs of Concept..
  • Build and manage, stable & secure cloud infrastructure/networking using cloud orchestration capabilities, scripting languages and APIs to design, code, test, implement and support Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Experience with configuration of common cloud services in production environment (e.g. compute, storage, networking).
  • Get to be involved in the development of short-term, operationally focused cloud vision for the Enterprise.
  • Participate in solutioning and design with other teams as they onboard applications
  • Builds/manages cloud networking capabilities, including load balancers, application firewalls, network access control lists (NACLs), security groups and VPN connectivity in a single cloud environment.

VALUABLE EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong skills in writing and debugging scripts/code for building and managing AWS services, which are delivered through CDK’s.
  • Experience Engineering and building solutions with public cloud technologies and managed services (AWS Preferred)
  • IaC: Infrastructure as Code
  • Coding Languages: Typescript, Java, Python, AWS CDK
  • Strong skills in engineering: design, research, requirements gathering, testing, operational support, developing and using quantitative measurements; building and following disciplined processes; building reusable components
  • Proven experience creating technical & non-technical documentation for production systems, support end-user training and providing demonstrations
  • Strong experience independently building/managing cloud services by automating/orchestrating moderately complex processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) within a single cloud environment. Has strong experience with distributed cloud platform configuration, deployment, and lifecycle management automation tools.
  • Has strong understanding of scripting and APIs.
  • Understands hybrid-cloud topologies. Can integrate cloud and legacy on-prem environments.
  • Understand and prioritize the application and integration of security and compliance for cloud environment
