Job Overview:

The Sr. Cyber Security Operations Engineer is a key member within the Security Operations program. The Sr. Security Operations Engineer is a subject matter expert who, through independent project engagements and collaboration with business and technology partners, as well as third party vendors – designs, engineers and operates the Security Operations platforms for the enterprise. This position will serve as subject matter expert (SME) for Network and Firewall rules security as well as other technologies within the Security Operations space.

This role is responsible for network security, tools that enable network security auditing / reporting, and ensuring security is “built into” the organization’s network and network devices, including third party vendor connectivity and interactions. The Sr. Security Operations Engineer maintains current knowledge of new products, industry trends and recommends enhancements and purchases that allow UNFI to maintain healthy and functional applications and protect its employee’s identities. This role also provides technical consulting to management, business users, and technical associates to ensure that applications and platforms are secure. This is an individual contributor position.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Technical Strategy & Planning:

  • Responsible for identifying, designing, and implementing security requirements for Network and Network devices
  • As a Security Operations team member work with other engineers to architect and manage Network and Firewall configurations and rules
  • Provide technical direction to the junior members of the team
  • Create and manage technical documentation
  • Install, integrate, configure, and operate Security Operations solutions like NetBrain and Tufin
  • Work with the business units to identify business requirements for requested projects.
  • Identify the technical requirements of projects.
  • Experience with Network Security industry standards, concepts, and architecture.
  • Plan and organize tasks, coordinate with additional development teams.
  • Review and submit technical and security improvement recommendations.
  • Product Acquisition & Deployment within the Security Operations technology areas
  • Design and develop Security Operations solutions based on industry best practices.
  • Leverage capabilities of vendor solutions and develop solutions based on future state in mind.
  • Develop solutions based on secure design and/or coding practices.
  • Perform analysis of business models, logical specifications, and/or customer requirements to design and build Security Operations integration solutions utilizing multiple technologies.
  • Research and mitigate significant risks associated with projects.

Operations Management:

  • Follow established change control processes, maintain and modify Security Operations applications
  • Coordinate changes with members from Security Operations and external teams including Infrastructure Engineers, DBAs, application support teams and Information Security.
  • Train and teach other engineers and developers.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert in the discovery and investigation of critical security vulnerabilities, as required.

Job Requirements:

Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer science, or related discipline is required
  • 5+ years IT experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Network and Firewall security
  • Experience supporting Azure SSO and Identity federation using AD Connect and/or ADFS
  • Demonstrated experience with PowerShell scripting and automation of Active Directory tasks.
  • Knowledge and/or experience supporting AWS identity federation and AWS governance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and participating in troubleshooting, managing, and solving issues related to identities, systems, access, accounts, authentication, authorization, entitlements, and permissions.
  • Knowledge of LDAP and identity federation.

Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on experience working with NetBrain, SolarWinds or similar network management tools
  • Experience with Firewall Management & Network Security Policy Software like Tufin
  • Experience with data analytics and reporting platform Microsoft Power BI
  • Experience setting up and installing software on Windows and Unix (Linux, Solaris) platforms
  • Experience with Agile principles and practices
  • Knowledge of ITIL change managements and problem management best practices.

Physical Environment:

  • Some travel may be required
  • Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.
  • Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
  • Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment during normal workday.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
