Under general supervision, the position will be responsible for the optimization of the company‘s use of its information assets by filling gap between policy and technology implementation. This position will ensure delivery of solutions that comply with business policies and legal requirements to protect, use, and store the right data for the right amount of time. Our goals are to minimize risk, reduce cost, and maximize the value of our information resources across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the data retention or system requirements, user-facing privacy controls, new or existing software, and big data solutions enable the business to be data driven while protecting the data assets
  • Collaborate with vendors on database and privacy standards • Acts as a subject matter expert for both internal and external teams on data governance strategy, updates to legal regulations, and direction on future roadmaps
  • Mentor junior team members and indirectly lead the work and direct escalation
  • Studies and interprets past privacy events and current privacy threats to improve privacy compliance using advanced technologies and design principles to develop and implement new tools and processes
  • Conducts structured and unstructured data scans, testing, and debugging of applications by using a variety of technical privacy tools to increase compliance and documentation of procedures and information assets
  • Maintain, manage and prioritize hardware, software, systems and/or product backlog, while actively identifying risks, constraints, and dependencies that would impact roadmap
  • Manage projects and enhancements, including gathering requirements, conducting research, task management and updating key partners and stakeholders with the goal of developing solutions to help mitigate privacy vulnerabilities and future privacy risks
  • Work with the legal department to produce data both internally and externally and ensure any legal request or litigation hold requirements are met.
  • Write and deploy SQL to archive and or purge data from databases and to locate, review, explain and document data for privacy requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate risk by performing regular privacy assessments and impact analysis on databases and operational processes by developing effective tools, training, and guidance. This includes data anonymization, pseudonymization and encryption

Minimum Qualification:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems , or related field, or foreign equivalent, or suitable combination of education, experience, and training; plus 3 years of work experience in a data privacy, protection, or IT

Preferred Qualification:

  • MS degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, privacy engineering or related field of study.
  • 3 years’ experience in privacy / data protection/ IT or a graduate degree or concentration in privacy engineering
  • CIPT, CIPP, CIPM, CISSP, CISA, CRISC, FAIR certification
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate designs, proposals, and results
  • Ability to learn and develop high proficiency in new technology platforms
  • Experience with data modeling and data modeling tools is preferred
  • Good working knowledge of data architecture and database structure
  • Experience with IBM technologies preferred
  • Excellent analytical and innovative skills for strategic planning, sound decision-making, and problem solving and ability to work well under tight deadlines
  • General knowledge of servers and operational characteristics of an enterprise computing environment
  • Ability to balance risks in ambiguous and complex situations.
  • Experience or understanding of software applications design tools and languages
  • Understanding of design for software applications running on multiple platforms.
  • Data literacy: finding and managing data, cleansing data, manipulating data.
  • Ability to perform operations on large datasets
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), ability to influence without authority
  • Understanding of testing, coding and debugging procedures
  • Excellent SQL writing skill
  • Understanding of design for software applications running on multiple platforms.
