General Summary

The Dollar General Internship program is a highly visible opportunity to work within a fast-paced and challenging environment. The interns will work directly with HR leadership and be exposed to various areas of the business. The nature of the selected projects not only offer meaningful work experiences, but also provide the opportunity to make an impact on the processes and procedures of the organization through your efforts.

General Summary

Provides administrative support to HR leadership in addition to carrying out limited HR support responsibilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Light duty – Pulling claims from our claims system on employees that have been set up for light duty. Compiling a report, confirming position and location. Researching employees when their light duty is ending to be sure it should not be extended and compiling a master report that is sent to Labor Mgmt for uploading into Atlas/Legion. Responding to DM inquiries regarding employees on light duty and working with the claim representatives when an issue arises.

Paying rental car claims – Confirming that the person we are receiving a bill from the rental car company is an employee, was approved to be in a rental for company business and nature of accident. Sending invoice to Accounts Payable to pay. Working with Account Rep at the rental agency to ensure payment is applied to the correct claim.

Reporting automobile/trucking claims to our TPA for continued handling. Determining the correct carrier and/or DC the truck came out of. Reporting the claim to the other carrier if not a DG accident. Obtaining the accident information from the proper DC to report a claim to our insurance carrier. Answer calls from the other party about their claim. Working with the landlord to ensure the claim is reported and handled correctly.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal skills, including negotiation skills; ability to communicate effectively with managers and third-party vendors
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage time, and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment; excellent organizational skill
  • Ability to interact and maintain both internal and external relationships in a professional, confidential, and appropriate manner
  • Clear understanding of data, relationships and system manipulation plus a high level proficiency with Microsoft office applications
  • Ability to create and/or pull reports from HRIS system

  • Must be a self-starter, adapt easily to change and have a collaborative personality.
  • Demonstrates personal ownership of tasks and ability to follow through to get required results in established timeframe.
  • Understanding of the systems development process and life cycle.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Ability to design effective systems based on user requirements.
  • Capable of writing thorough unit, system and user test plans.
  • Strong written, oral, and listening communication skills.
  • Working understanding of waterfall or Agile development methodologies.
  • Understanding of general business concepts and user procedures.
  • Customer service focused with the ability to build strong working relationships with business partners.

At Least 5 Years Of Total IT Experience With

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related field or equivalent working experience.
  • 5 years’ experience developing across a full stack, including Front end NodeJS and REACT, database, web server, API, and client-side scripting (Angular, Node.js server side, ReactJS, etc ).
  • 3 years’ experience working with Adobe AEM including Java/Sling/OSGi, NodeJS/REACT, Launch, Target.
  • Understanding and implementation of security and data protection.
  • Azure experience preferred.
  • C# experience preferred.

General Summary

Postgres (or relational database) experience preferred
