About the Team

Workday is using the latest software development and cloud technologies to build platforms and application services to support our growth while also ensuring the protection of Workday data and infrastructure.

The Application Security organization is tasked with the delivery of technical solutions and standards in support of Workday’s SSDLC program. We empower Workday’s Product and Technology teams to rapidly deploy secure software!

About the Role
Do you have a passion for security? In this role, you will lead and develop a group of passionate engineers across a number of teams who are focused on security standards development, tool development, and application security assessment and consulting. As Director for Application Security, you are tasked with driving security into Workday’s platform and ensuring software and services are designed and implemented with security in mind from the very beginning. Workday’s Application Security Organization builds and maintains security toolchains for Workday’s application and service platforms with design choices tending to lean toward innovative technology stacks. Seamless integration of toolsets into service pipelines reducing security induced friction is one of our primary goals. The toolchains developed by the team are a critical part of the shift left initiatives at Workday.
About You
Basic qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years relevant application/product security experience
  • Minimum of 5 years team leadership experience
  • Possess practical Application Security skills to guide your team in making rational decisions
  • Proven understanding of various Application Security strategies to help drive a Shift Left mentality
  • Work with key partners from the development organizations to help automate and integrate security into their workflows and promote security practices like threat modeling, secure coding, and Security review.
  • Lead, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the Application Security Organization
  • A sound knowledge of Security fundamentals including access control, cryptography, vulnerability management, and Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC) practices;
