Become a member of a high-paced and rewarding healthcare IT team supporting the enterprise Electronic Health Records System (Cerner Millennium/EHR) for Christiana Care Health System. As a member of the System Managed Services Team (SMST) specializing in the front and back-end support aspects of the application, you will specialize in supporting the application and implementing new products in our EHR environment. You will work closely with internal teams and the vendor to implement changes in a controlled manner and maximizing availability at all times. The SMST is exposed to all technical components of the nth tier Millennium Application Suite and is responsible for providing the most stable robust environment for all hospital EHR system customers.
Primary Function
Ensure maximum availability and seamless integration of Cerner Millennium and 3rd party applications with the CCHS clinical desktop and server infrastructure. Work with Cerner Consulting teams to ensure proper implementation and support structures are in place. This person ensures PowerChart is functional with Imprivata single-sign-on and MFA authentication methods as well as managing other integration points in the Millennium system. Experience troubleshooting Citrix, CareAware components, and Millennium solutions is key to success for this position. Technical proficiency with multiple aspects of desktop computing and excellent communication and organizational skills are a must for the candidate. Implementing new technology and participating on project implementation teams is also a key function of this position.
Skills Required for this position
- High proficiency in Microsoft Operating Systems and MS Office productivity tools
- Experience supporting applications running on Citrix and virtual servers
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Thorough working knowledge of DNS and networking concepts.
- Develop and modify system diagrams and thorough documentation for solutions implemented
- Energetic approach to problem solving, desire to reverse engineer computing solutions, and willing to expand knowledge to all aspects of support for the Cerner Millennium System
- Participate in the on-call duties in a weekly rotation once every 4 weeks.
- Ability to plan, organize and engage others to execute changes to the Cerner Millennium System
- Communicate and collaborate with highly skilled IT personnel on immediate and IT teams across the organization
- At least 5 years Healthcare IT experience
Primary Duties of this position
- Support the Christiana Care general clinical workstation workflows to meet the requirements of our providers and nursing staff.
- Troubleshoot access issues, application performance, individual components that make up the wider system.
- Provide operational on-call support for the System Managed Services Team
- Plan, manage and implement production changes using best practices
- Assist others on the team collaboratively to solve complex issues.
- Work with vendor and coordinating small initiatives to implement changes/improvements in the system.
- Participate as a member of a larger project team to implement new solutions to the Cerner Millennium environment.
- Act as a consultant for integrations of 3rd party products into the Cerner Millennium environment.
- Stay ahead of rapidly evolving technologies and interface the various system components to produce effective and efficient solutions.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support duties.
Skills desired but not required for this position
- Prior experience with Cerner Applications suite, including CareAware
- Basic understanding of Cerner Millennium package management, installation, and implementation.
- Knowledge of Unix, Unix shell scripting, and the VI editor
- Powershell scripting
- Basic knowledge of ANSI SQL
- Familiarity with ITIL best practices.
- Knowledge of and appreciation for computer security best practices
