The Enterprise Security Team

Business Technology is on a mission to accelerate Okta’s scale and growth. We bring world-class business acumen and technology expertise to every interaction. We also drive cross-functional collaboration and are focused on delivering measurable business outcomes.

The Enterprise Security team oversees the security and protection of Okta’s internal resources and infrastructure within the Business Technology organization.

The Senior Enterprise Engineer Opportunity

Like many technology companies, Okta has experienced explosive growth over the past several years. During this time, the Business Technology organization has accumulated tech debt as we have worked to scale rapidly. We are looking for a skilled engineer who can take the lead on examining internal business processes with a critical eye for security gaps and fix them. This will require collaboration across many different teams and working with stakeholders of varying levels and skill sets. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with automation experience using SaaS tools and APIs, process improvement, and user experience. We’re looking for someone who knows what it takes to secure an enterprise, and loves to jump in and get their hands dirty.

The most important quality is an innate desire to make tools and people work together solving complex problems to make things operate more effectively.

What you’ll be doing 

• Establish relationships across teams to understand how they operate and where pain points exist
• Dig deep into our technologies and processes to find areas for improvement, prioritize those projects, and see them through to completion.
• Develop and update internal processes to support critical business functions
• Develop and update automation using a variety of tools
• Work solo or collaboratively while delivering simultaneous projects on a deadline
• Set priorities for incoming requests and clearly communicating impact of findings

What you’ll bring to the role

• 5+ years experience working in a security engineering, systems administration, and/or operations role
• 3+ years experience with a modern scripting language (Python preferred) and/or automation technologies
• Experience developing runbooks or operating procedures
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently

And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following! 

• Experience with hyper growth companies, high security environments, and highly regulated environments.
• Experience leading projects
• Experience working with SaaS applications and REST APIs
• Experience working with Okta and Workflows

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:$140,000—$189,000 USD The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $156,000—$211,000 USD
