Under general direction, this position is responsible for developing effective computing solutions to increase the security of their enterprise systems and projects. This position is responsible for creating new ways to solve existing production security issues and must possess an advanced understanding of detection, prevention and response protocols as well as a high understanding of network and computer forensics. This position’s primary role is to lead secure engineering efforts in the development and implementation of enterprise security controls and services.

This position requires strong communications skills and must be able to work efficiently in a team setting. Moreover, this position is results oriented and should be able to work adequately under pressure. In addition, the position must have strong knowledge of common computer languages and operating systems and possess problem-solving abilities and be able to work independently.

As a representative of the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer, this position is critical in providing security services to State Agencies, Boards and Commissions, therefore excellent customer service skills are essential

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, Seven (7) years of IT & Security work experience, or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • 5 years CISCO ASA and or, Palo Alto, and or Checkpoint firewall work administration experience.
  • Cloud Security Administration work experience – Azure/AWS/Others
  • Splunk and security incident response work experience
  • Windows/Linux Server OS Security and administration work experience
  • Must possess and maintain at least one type of Information Security Certification, i.e.

CISSP, CISM, CISA, etc., or obtain certification within one year of hire.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience with Active Directory administration and security
  • Knowledge of security issues and techniques across all existing computer platforms.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local law and regulations.
  • Knowledge of security products, tools, and processes
  • Skill in operating a personal computer.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of NIST, FIPS, FISMA security standards
