Job Title: Manager, Security Operations Center
Reports to: VP, Information Security and CISO
Location: Goleta (Remote)
The Role
Deckers is looking for a person who thrives on leading teams in daily problem-solving adventures.
The role is for Manager of our Security Operations Center and the right candidate will lead a global team of Security Analysts to detect, analyze, and mitigate threats. This critical position on the Information Security team will help deliver Deckers’ vision of redefining traditional SOC operations using automation, orchestration, and analytics.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the oversight of day-to-day operations for the security operations team, maturing processes, and driving new innovations. The Manager for the Security Operations Center is a high visibility role and requires a strong technical leader with outstanding customer service skills capable of planning and executing to meet the security team’s core objectives.
The right candidate will be responsible for responding to security incidents, building playbooks and workflows, and working with management to improve the overall corporate security posture.
The Security Operations Center Manager oversees driving the operations element of Deckers’ guiding security principles:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead a 24×7 response team, foster innovation, and drive accountability within the Security Operations Center
- Lead the Security Operation Center (SOC), including investigation, response, developing playbooks and workflows, and reporting on information security issues and emerging trends
- Develop and implement crisis communication plans
- Be a thought leader in security operations – driving automation, analytics and advanced threat analysis
- Partner with other teams at Deckers to ensure alignment between Information Security and corporate objectives / initiatives
- Oversee technical delivery, assessing and continually improving output and ensuring processes are developed and adhered to in order to drive operations excellence
- Provide administrative direction and technical guidance for daily operational activities
- Benchmark, analyze, report, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the security operations department
- Keep current with the latest vendor updates and proactively seek security information that can improve Deckers’ security posture
- Develop and maintain an educational environment where the knowledge and performance of the security operations team is constantly advancing
- Develop and mentor staff through open communications, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; build and maintain employee morale and motivation.

Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university with a preference for a focus in Information Security or similar area of study
- Desired certifications include CISSP, CISM, and CRISC
Work Experience:
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to meet the primary duties and responsibilities listed in this job posting
- At least five years with related experience, including direct experience managing direct reports in a Security Operations Center environment
- Experience working within a large, multi-national organization
- Experience leading a team spread across multiple continents/time zones
- Proven ability to make decisions and perform complex problem-solving activities under pressure
- Previous project leadership experience required
- Experience or familiarity with information security frameworks and standards such as ISO27001, NIST CSF, and SOC2
Skills/Competencies:
- Experience in designing, implementing and measuring relevant security and technology management metrics
- Experience in managing and maintaining relationships between managed services, VARs, vendors, and internal customers
- Ability to ensure shift coverage is maintained between internal resources and managed services to ensure 24 x7 support of response services
- In-depth knowledge of modern security concepts and how to apply them
- Expert ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues required
