Job Description
The Network Technician at EDT supports the Principal Systems Engineer and works on multiple systems and applications at a time. The Network Technician will work with all EDT departments (engineering, manufacturing and accounting) for problem resolution regarding hardware and software systems.
- Responsible for implementing, maintaining, supporting, developing, and designing communication networks including the following: computer, voice, firewall, help desk, and security
- Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure as well as install, configure, test, and maintain both Microsoft server and Linux operating systems
- Monitor application performance, and identify possible solutions to implement fixes
- Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
- Write and maintain custom scripts as well as design informational and operational support systems
- Manage, maintain, and develop reporting systems for ERP (Syteline) systems
- Install, configure, and administrate MS SQL Server and MySQL Server database systems

Requirements
Education: BS degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems
Experience: 3+ years relevant experience
- Proven working experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting both Microsoft server and Linux operating systems
- Experience in the administration and performance tuning of SQL server and MySQL database systems
- Experience with SQL stored procedures and report generation
- Experience in the administration and performance tuning of applications including (e.g., ERP (Syteline), Bacula, IIS, Apache, VNC)
- Experience in the installation and administration of Checkpoint firewall systems
- Experience in the administration of phone systems (NEC SV8100 Univerge)
- Experience in monitoring network activity for bottlenecks and security holes
