The Architect-II
Overall responsibility for the
architecture and design of solutions that encompass multiple enterprise and
strategic applications and technologies across multiple departments. They are
responsible for evaluating the requirements of a business or IT ask and both
architecting an IT solution or perform vendor evaluations to determine if an
external product can support the business ask or need. The Architect-II will
also be responsible for developing a level of effort (LOE) to support any project
request that they might get. Solutions
may cover a broad spectrum of the business (i.e. laboratory, billing,
logistics, patient services, finance, legal, etc.) and applications/
technologies regardless of the architect’s primary area of expertise. The architect is responsible for the creation
and presentation of a number of artifacts including, but not limited to
architecture overview documents, solution sketches, data models, integration
patterns, LOE estimates, vendor evaluation scorecards, design/code review
reports etc. He/she is further
responsible for leading other application architects, application developers
& non-technical team members and provide design oversight and guidance at
varying levels during project execution. Finally, the Architect-II is charged with collaborating with the other
architecture functions (such as Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure
architecture) in the developing of various IT strategies and ensuring that the
solutions that they lead are in support of strategic goals for the company –
both business and IT.
Specific Position
Info:
This specific position will focus designing and shepherding
solutions for our advanced diagnostics testing business. This includes both internal and external
facing systems. Internal applications
will include all systems necessary to support the receipt, testing and billing
of advanced laboratory test orders (i.e. orders which contain specialized
laboratory tests – anatomic pathology, genetics, oncology, women’s health,
etc.). External facing applications will
cover the gamut of physician and payer facing system and our direct to consumer
healthcare ecommerce platform with heavy emphasis on both
architecture/development and integration with our core systems.
The candidate will develop the design and support the
creation and enhancement of each of the systems described above. Familiarity with legacy application
integration will be critical to the candidate’s success. Candidate is expected to work collaboratively
with teams of architects, product managers, analysts, developers and business
partners in support of these efforts.
Duties and
Responsibilities
Propose the design, and support creation, and
ongoing development of systems leveraged in support of our Advanced Diagnostics
business.
Support development of a modern foundational integrated
genomics architecture with a mix of on prem and cloud-based systems.
Design solutions in support of both consumer and
physician based ordering and reporting
Review, evaluate and recommend off the shelf
products and platforms to speed up development timelines and speed to market.
Collaborate across the organization (e.g
Marketing, Product, IT teams) on major project technical designs
Lead and drive eCommerce, Marketplace, modern
Cloud architectures, internal and 3rd party integrations, extensibility, market
distribution, and distributed systems.
Actively engage with infrastructure hosting and
information security teams to lead and mitigate cyber risks.
Develop, document and presents solutions to members
of multiple architecture, development and infrastructure teams for purposes of
solution development and or the gathering/refining of estimates
Organizes and leads cross-functional discussions
within the IT and business organizations in support of solution development
Works with vendors to better understand how
features and interfaces of outside applications can facilitate the fulfillment
of customer requests

Qualifications:
Education Preferred: BS degree in Computer
Science, MIS, or related technical field.
Work Experience: 10+ years of
demonstrated IT design and/or architecture experience
10+ years’ experience
working in large-scale, heterogeneous IT environments
2+ years working in
eCommerce space
3+ years’ experience
with CICD, Azure pipelines, Microservices, Kubernetes, API first
approach, Cloud native and headless ecommerce architectures
3+ years integrating
eCommerce platforms with enterprise systems
3+ years working in
Healthcare space (strongly preferred) – genetic testing exposure a plus
Experience with commerce
tools, CMS Tools and REST APIs, SOA preferable
Hands on experience with
FE frameworks (Angular, React, etc)
Hands on experience in design
and architecture view of Mulesoft Anypoint API Platform
Experience designing, developing
and deploying RESTful APIs and microservices in cloud
Broad knowledge of web
standards relating to APIs (OAuth, SSL, CORS, JWT, etc.)
Proficient in Microsoft
Office Suite and TEAMS with particular emphasis on Visio, Excel and
PowerPoint
Other: Has deep technical
expertise in one or more technology domains
Demonstrated in depth
understanding of multiple enterprise level and strategic applications
supporting the multiple business functions (Lab, Commercial, Sales,
Marketing etc.)
Demonstrated ability to
influence with credibility across business functions or technologies
with analysis (based on prior experience).
Demonstrated ability to
represent IT in senior management level discussions and with third
parties
Demonstrated excellent
interpersonal, oral/presentation and written communication skills in
both technical and non-technical language.
Strong leadership,
project and team building skills – ability to lead teams and drive projects
and initiatives by working effectively with others with a demonstrated
ability to work cross-departmentally.
Demonstrated ability to
