Department Overview
Motorola Solutions Inc. (MSI) is a leading provider of Mission Critical Communications Solutions for Public Safety and Government Users as well as a key enabler for Commercial Communication products, making sure our customers have the information they need at hand in the Moments that Matter.
The organizations within Motorola Solutions providing products and services to our customers are responsible for the development of the company’s mission-critical communications and mission-critical intelligence portfolio, including command center applications (on-prem, SaaS, hybrid), Land Mobile Radio (LMR), and LTE solutions, as well as managed and support services around the world. This list of organizations includes the company’s procurement and supply chain operations.
Many of our systems are designed around the APCO Project 25 communications standard. With the growth of data services, our customer’s mobile backhaul networks are expanded and enhanced to include applications such as live mobile video transmission supplementing our traditional core voice and narrowband data networks.
The team comprises Sales, Project Management, System Engineering, and System Technologist personnel working together in a high-performance culture, often with demanding cycle times and high customer expectations because we are working on mission-critical communication systems.
Job Description
The Senior Cybersecurity Solutions Engineer is part of a team that is responsible for managing the cybersecurity program for the North America Managed & Support Services organization and will oversee various operational aspects of cybersecurity compliance, training, incident management and communications. Leadership, written and verbal communication skills will be critical to success in this role given the expectation to communicate effectively with various stakeholders internally and externally.
The role will require:
- Coordination and collaboration with the MSI Cybersecurity organization, specifically the Cybersecurity Security Solutions Team (SST) to ensure compliance with corporate cybersecurity objectives, guidance and knowledge, and understanding of our cybersecurity products and services portfolio.
- Oversight, tracking, prioritizing, and resolution of security incidents, issues, and vulnerabilities of our systems post deployment. Supports crisis/incident management with corporate security teams.
- Advises on data security issues, compliance, and privacy requirements.
- Participation in Customer Cybersecurity support activities, review of customer-facing cybersecurity materials, and participating in Customer engagements.
- Drive Secure Design Reviews and ensure compliance to security controls when new solutions and services are deployed at a customer site.
- Must possess industry recognized cybersecurity certification or equivalent experience. Example: CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CISM
Your Responsibilities:
- Assist in the identification, analysis, and assessment of IT risk scenarios in order to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Motorola Solutions and Customer systems and data.
- Conduct periodic compliance risk assessments against MSI Security Policies and Standards, recommend remediation solutions, and drive completion of remediation projects.
- Ensure MSI owned & operated systems are properly secured and perform regular assessments and tests to validate.
- Assist with defining Cybersecurity training needs for NA Managed & Support Services Employees.
- Collaborate with our Product Development teams to ensure they are designing Cyber Security features and functionality into products and software up front.
- Participate in and/or drive NA Managed & Support Services Cybersecurity Team Improvement Initiatives.
- Assist with activities to maintain ISO 27001 accreditation, including documentation updates, training and awareness, continuous improvement, and ongoing control audits.
- Support Incident Response and Crisis Management Processes, Activities, and Reporting.
- Interpret & communicate information security policies & controls to our employees.
- Support execution of Cybersecurity strategies, priorities, and roadmaps enabling MSI and the MSI Customers to fulfill their mission and goals.
- Support definition and driving Cybersecurity Service differentiators and value-adds for the NA Managed & Support Services portfolio.
- Maintain awareness of Cybersecurity industry and technology trends and assist with driving these into the NA Managed & Support Services organization.
- Support Cybersecurity technology alignment by collaborating with others within the Cybersecurity Team.
- Support development of Risk Assessment and Mitigation Strategies.
- Support reporting on Cybersecurity status and risk posture to risk owners and senior leadership
- Interface with the Products & Services Security Solutions Team in identifying Cybersecurity gaps within the NA Managed & Support Services business portfolio.
- Assist and/or conduct Secure Design Reviews and Threat Assessments.
- Assist and/or conduct Customer Penetration/Scanning results responses
- Assist and/or conduct vulnerability reporting and response communications
- Support internal and external Cybersecurity awareness initiatives, campaigns, and forums.
Specific Knowledge / Skills:
- Ability to understand concepts and terminology in security domains including governance, risk management, architecture, compliance, and operations and be able to express them in a clear and concise manner.
- High level of integrity in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
- Must have experience designing and implementing Motorola P25 LMR networks.
- Able to write clearly and succinctly in technical and non-technical formats.
- Ability to communicate complex technical problems in business terms.
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools
- Understanding of Active Directory and Group Policies.
- Knowledge of Windows and UNIX platforms.
- Solid understanding of network security concepts.
- Knowledge of firewalls and router access control lists.
- Scripting experience a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze and document events in a clear and concise manner.
- Self starter who demonstrates initiative and is willing to assume responsibility.
- Adaptive, flexible, and resourceful individual that is results orientated.
- Helpful to have knowledge of cloud services by industry leaders like Microsoft Azure, Amazon AWS.
- One or more of the following security, SW and cloud certifications preferred: CISSP, CISM, CCSP, CCSK, CCSLP, AWS and/or Microsoft Azure certifications, SANS training.
- Self-starter who demonstrates complete ownership over assigned objectives and is able to work independently.

Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or Information Security – with Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Masters degree
- Minimum 5 plus years of experience in IT or Telecom including in the field of information security, security operations, and/or product development with cyber focus.
