Primary Purpose

The Senior Manager Cyber Defense is primarily responsible for managing the day to operations of the Security Operations Center and conducting investigations into allegations of potential violations of a variety of employment laws and related company policies and preparing reports and data analysis for legal and internal audit review; providing guidance to other company departments, including internal audit, fraud, corporate security relative to employment matters; and providing training, guidance and support to human resources professionals and other company departments surrounding investigative methodology and report preparation. This role will also begin the process of building the fusion center which will coordinate the activities of the various departments involved in cyber-criminal investigations. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and MGM Resorts International policies, practices and procedures.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

    • Manage the day to day operations of the Security Operations Center, to include the Tier1/2 Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) SOC, Incident Response and Threat Intelligence teams.
    • Conduct hotline investigations and prepare in-depth reports for legal and internal audit regarding potential violations of variety of labor and employment laws and regulations and make recommendations to business units to address findings of investigations.
    • Lead sophisticated investigations into potential employment issues and other alleged policy violations as requested by properties or corporate departments.
    • Manage delivery of cyber forensics and electronic discovery efforts to provide to legal or outside counsel upon request for support of cases in litigation.
    • Create a tracking method to enhance metrics on cyber investigations.
    • Act as independent investigator into complaints from HR professionals.
    • Provide guidance and direction to investigations conducted by property personnel, including review of investigative methodology and files, and retrieval of information and documents.
    • Manage investigations being conducted by outside counsel/investigators.
    • Partner with law enforcement and community sharing forums like the Retail Cyber Information Sharing Center (R-CISC) and the National Cyber Forensic Training Association (NCFTA).
    • Represent Information security on the multi-disciplinary threat assessment task force
    • Perform other job-related duties as requested. SUPERVISION:

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Two (2) years of experience conducting investigations or audits or related experience; human resources, labor/employment legal or similar field, including basic understanding of labor and employment laws and regulations.

Preferred

    • Previous Workday or other SAS software experience.
    • Previous hospitality/casino industry experience.
    • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
    • GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)
    • Investigators/examiners certificate
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • Valid Gaming Registration

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Fundamental understanding of cyber investigations and Security Operations Center flows to include the Incident Response and Threat Intelligence processes.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
  • Ability to work with and coordinate amongst multiple disciplines, including human resources, security, legal, compliance, and internal audit.
