Role Value Proposition:
The Director of Information Security Strategy & Planning reports to Chief of Staff (COS) and Head of Business Planning supporting the Office of the CISO.
This is a key role providing leadership and strategy direction toward execution of Information Risk and Security’s business objectives. The person selected for this role will assist in ensuring the COS and CISO are prepared for all internal and external engagements and events. The Director of Strategy & Planning will assist in facilitating coordination across Global IT Risk and Security senior leaders and key stakeholders, in supporting the formulation, implementation, and execution of business strategies and plans. As part of the COS’s team, the Director of Strategy will build collaborative relationships with key stakeholders at the regional level. The COS will serve as liaison between the COS, Office of CISO and coordinate with regional and global stakeholders, as appropriate. Given the opportunity to see across the MetLife and Info Risk & Security organization, the Director of Strategy generally works behind the scenes to facilitate coordination across the Info Risk & Security Leadership Team, troubleshoot, mediate disputes and identify and implement solutions before they reach the COS. The COS will act as a confidante and advisor to the COS, ensure the COS is abreast of key developments across the organization, and serve as a sounding board for new ideas and initiatives. The Director of Strategy must prove to be trustworthy, decisive and loyal, and be able to handle stress and working long hours.
Key Responsibilities:
COS & CISO Preparation and Success. Supports the needs and, in coordination with the COS’s team, ensures the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) has all prepared materials well in advance of meetings, internal and external engagements, and events.
- When necessary and appropriate, the Director of Strategy & Planning coordinates with key stakeholders in advance of meetings to set agendas and clarify and align objectives to the CISO’s goals.
- In consultation with the COS, the Director of Strategy & Planning will also coordinate and prepare agendas for internal and external meetings involving the CISO, conduct research as necessary on issues of importance and sensitivity, and produce briefing materials and reports for the COS.
- Leads the management and execution of COS-led projects, as assigned.
Coordinate & Facilitate Global ITRS Strategy & Planning. Coordinate within the COS office, and across ITRS OC members, to ensure consistency, alignment, and focus across the management team on ITRS strategic priorities and support the development, implementation, and execution of business strategies and plans.
- In partnership with the COS will set the agenda, execute the meeting, and track implementation of decisions for key management forums, to include the Senior Leadership members.
- Facilitate the connection and alignment of initiatives and strategic priorities with key stakeholders (i.e. help connect dots).
- Work with business and functional leaders to produce pre-reads and materials, note actions and deliverables, and help track implementation of decisions.
- Support COS to ensure consistency and focus of CISO internal and external communications and align CISO messaging to strategic business priorities.
- Work with ITRS OC management team to support CISO-level visits and townhalls, ensuring a consistent approach that advances ITRS’s strategic objectives.
Build and Manage Relationships. Builds strong collaborative relationships with ITRS Leadership Team and other key stakeholders to drive strategic execution, facilitate coordination, and advance ITRS’s strategic objectives. Expand networks beyond Senior Leadership team to support execution and maintain awareness of developments across ITRS.
- Serve as liaison between COS and direct reports to influence outcomes and maintain execution momentum on key initiatives.
- Help to clarify ITRS’s strategy intent and guidance.
- Leveraging own network to ensure COS is abreast of all key and relevant developments across the lines of business and functions to inform decision- making
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills
Required:
- 10+ years of IT/Information Security and business/industry work experience, with at least 5 years in portfolio analysis or managing projects.
- 3+ years of management, supervisory or team lead experience.
- Expertise in composing executive presentations.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
- Able to interpret and represent MetLife’s IT security position and scores with precision and accuracy.
Preferred:
- Certification in one or more area: CISSP, CISA, CISM, CIPP and PMP
- Knowledge and expertise in the use of portfolio analysis or project management methodologies and tools, resource management practices and change management techniques.
- Intermediate working skills in MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel & Word), Power BI, SharePoint, etc.

The wage range for this position specific to Colorado is $103,000 to $137,300 base You may be also eligible for the MetLife Annual Variable Incentive Plan (“AVIP”).
